BLACK CONE by BRIAN MOORHEAD
There seems to be a lot of apocalyptic books bring spit out quite excessively. I don't mind the topic if it is a fast paced and somewhat realistic book. I have not read a book from this author before, but I was interested to see how he would handle the subject of mass destruction.
I did like the fact that the setting was almost believable being set in the year 2019. That is what grabbed my attention. I love reading these type books as long as it is written in the very near future. The story revolves around a biological warfare weapon known as "Black Cone." It is the type of very secret weapon that could destroy nations and needs to be handled with upmost care.
America is on the brink of collapse if this weapon is put in the wrong hands. It has been called the most powerful weapon ever created. Can America keep this weapon from getting into the wrong hands? What if an enemy of America seizes this devastating weapon?
The author writes a fast paced action packed story that has all the twists and adventure you come to expect from this genre. The characters are well written and have a strong desire to keep America safe. With all the technology out there, it is only a matter of time before total devastation could happen to America? Are we ready for the attack? Have we prepared ourselves to fight off a biological warfare?
The author has done a good job of keeping readers interested with the action and surprises that bring this book a feel of what may happen in the very near future . Get ready for a page turner that hits you with the knowledge that this weapon could be in our future.
I received a copy of this book from the author and Librarything for an honest review.

SECOND CHANCES by LINCOLN COLE
It is always nice to find a new author and their book just waiting to be read. I found myself so absorbed in the story, I read until I finished the book. It has depth, and really captures your attention. The story is about a family that is struggling to survive. One day the mom leaves home to do a very important errand that would change everything . Four months later we find her children fighting to stay alive , barely making it but not willing to give up. They keep hoping their mom will walk through the door , but they soon will have to face a hard reality.
There are several characters that make this story so powerful. The author has done an outstanding job of giving readers a story that may hit home for some. He doesn't sugar coat anything and tackles subjects such as race, abuse, alcoholism , and shame with a clear and concise story that gives you chills. The story is fiction, but it could easily be about you, your friend or even your neighbor. I appreciate the honest and raw emotions the characters had. We all want a second chance and this book will delve into the aspect of what happens when someone is given that chance. Thank you for a book that tackles subjects that are painful and gives readers an emotional ride that will make you cry, find hope and cheer for second chances. Don't we all want a second chance?

WHEN THE COWBOY RIDES AWAY by MOLLY NOBLE BULL
The author has done a great job of writing a western romance. The details are very picturesque and takes you back to a time where Cowboys roamed the lands working their cattle. Maggie is a very strong willed young woman who has a deep faith. When she comes up on an injured man she brings him back to the ranch to help him. Alex awakens in a strange bed and realizes he doesn't know who he is. Is Alex an outlaw? Will his memory ever come back? Will his true identity is revealed, will those around him be in danger?
It's time to sit back, put your boots up and get ready for a fascinating story filled with witchcraft, bank robberies, attempted murder and a bit of romance. The story reminds me of a John Wayne movie, where the cowboy is mysterious and the woman is feisty and stubborn. This combination makes for an adventure that is unpredictable and at times suspenseful . I was intrigued by the part the author wrote about the way they maked graves . Most people were poor and the only way they could mark a grave was to put chips of glass on the grave. When the sunlight caught the glass it would be a cascade of brilliant colors and show where the grave was. What a beautiful way to describe a tribute to a loved one.
I enjoyed the storyline and the feel of a great western adventure. It is a intriguing book with twists and surprises that will have readers glued to the book.

THE EDGE by DAVE and JOANNE BECKWITH
I love books that help you with your walk with God. I call them nuggets of faith. This book is filled with information on how to overcome your struggles and at the end of each chapter is a little recap with questions, examples and scriptures. It is a great tool to use daily as a bible study .
We each struggle with different things such as resentment, unforgiveness, love and regrets. This book goes through several of these topics with examples from the bible, scriptures and tools to help us overcome what the enemy has used to try to discourage us. I enjoyed the chapter on love. It talked about different types of love. The one that really stood out to me was agape love."Agape love accepts the person, strengths and weaknesses, faults and flaws.Agape love displays the characteristics of God." I sometimes fail in this area and after reading this section, I am encouraged to love without judging and accept people for who they are.
The other one that really ministered to me was about regrets and forgiveness. Many of us have regrets whether they be making a wrong decision, hurting someone with unkind words, or disappointing someone in our life. The book explains how to get past this by forgiving ourselves, forgiving others and trying to get past regrets that may be holding us back. God wants the best for us and He doesn't want past mistakes to keep us stuck and not moving forward in our journey with Him.
I loved the book and hope others will pick up a copy to read and use as a daily bible study. The authors have also designed it to be used in small groups and has given an outline and steps to use to lead a small group using this very informative faith filled book.

BREAK EVERY CHAIN by BARRY NAPIER
This book is a very difficult read because of the sensitive subject, but one that will stay with you long after the last page is read. Many of us search for answers to what God's plan is for us. We sometimes lose hope when our life seems to be out of control. When Ryan goes on a mission trip to help out at a place called Jubilee House he will discover what God has planned for him.
The Jubilee House is a place that very young girls stay after being rescued from sex slavery. Ryan is very emotional as the days go by and he hears of heartbreaking stories about harrowing rescued and senseless violence against the young girls. The book is a journey that one man takes that will is filled with heartache, anger, sorrow and finally a new relationship with God. The subject in the book is one that happens everyday for girls and women in these countries where the police turn their back and let evil prevail. The horror and torture these girls go through is hard to read and I stopped several times to wipe tears away from my eyes. Even though this book is written as a fiction book, it is definitely something that continues to go on daily for many innocent girls. I cannot fathom a child as young as seven living the life this book describes.
I am thankful that the author wrote a book with such passion for this subject as it will hopefully remind each of us what evil is out there . The rescues that are done are dangerous but the rewards are far greater. In the story Ryan asks a question that many of us have wondered about and I loved the answer that was given with such clarity by the author. "Why do bad things happen to good people? So they can learn, overcome, and then help countless others survive those same bad things."
