Crouch End Confidential, the agency started by housewife and mother, Cathy O’Farrell, with ex-cleaner, Pimple is failing badly. Hardly surprising when Cathy’s too soft-hearted to charge their only clients, little old ladies seeking lost pets and a school kid searching for his stolen bike.
A new case involving a teenager in possession of an unexplained Glock pistol promises to change all that. Quickly Cathy’s deep in waters over her head, forced with hilarious results to pose as a mathematics tutor, a subject of which she’s truly clueless. There’s also the tricky situation of best friend and new mother Rosa hiring her to investigate her fiancĂ©, Alec, plus the mysterious sabotage of Cathy’s friends’ cycle shop and a gang of yobbos dealing drugs at her children’s primary school.
Worst of all, an ill-fated trip to rural Norfolk has Cathy’s husband, Declan, intent on buying a post office and transplanting the family to safer climes, threatening to tear Cathy permanently from her beloved North London home.
Pretty soon Cathy’s risking her friendships, her marriage and even her life untangling all these messes. But that’s what you get for meddling in murder…

 About The Author –
Ellie Campbell is a pseudonym for sister writing team, Pam Burks and Lorraine Campbell.   Running wild as tomboys in Scotland, playing imagination games, they couldn’t dream that one day they’d co-author novels despite an ocean between them. From boring clerical jobs in London to a varied life of backpacking and adventure travel, both started almost accidentally as short story writers, Lorraine when working in publishing, Pam as a fun hobby while an at-home mother of three.
By the time each had 70 short stories published internationally, Pam was settled in Surrey, England, and Lorraine had finally taken root in Boulder, Colorado. Long telephone chats about life and fiction led to their current collaboration.  They have produced five acclaimed novels – How To Survive Your Sisters, When Good Friends Go Bad, Looking For La La, To Catch A Creeper and Million Dollar Question.  They write contemporary women’s fiction laced with humour, romance, and mystery.
When not hunched over computers, Lorraine, a certified ROTH ‘horse whisperer’, can usually be found messing about with her four rescue horses and Pam on a fund raising bike ride, madly cycling over mountains to Paris, Barcelona or Gibraltar on the back of her husband’s bone-shaking tandem.

If you are looking for a fun, fast paced laugh out loud cozy mystery, you are in for a treat with this book. The author is great at writing characters that are fun, determined and full of life. I instantly fell in love with Cathy O' Farrell . She has struggled to make her business successful. At one time it was called " Helping People Who Would Otherwise Commit Suicide." I don't think I would be to anxious to go to a business like that.  Can you imagine going there? I laughed so hard and realized how brilliant the author is at her creativity.

Cathy O' Farrell has teamed up once again with Pimple. She has changed her business to "Crouch End Confidential Agency." They have such exciting customers. Yes Cathy is climbing up a tree to rescue a cat and the excitement is just beginning.  The story weaves through many cases that are death defying. We have the stolen bike case, and then we move into hard core cases.  The case about drug dealing was written with grace and very detailed. I enjoy how the author gives us so many cases to focus on. I wonder who is trying to destroy her friends business? Will Cathy  be able to keep up with everything? I have to mention WOW. It stands for Wednesday Once Weeklies. You have to read the book to find out about this fun time.

Overall the book is well written, was lots of fun to read and one you will not be able to put down. Make sure you read this book and enjoy every word that gives you a fun read. I highly recommend this exciting book that is an excellent addition to cozy mysteries.

Every time I have the pleasure of reading this authors books, I fall in love with her writing a little more. She writes  so graceful, funny has such  wonderful characters. Caprice De Luca is an interior designer and her sister, Nikki,  helps caterer the food to help set the stage for the homes. I can just see the lovely furniture surrounded by yummy foods  waiting for guests to partake in.

Things take a sudden turn when Nikki's rival , Drew outbids her on a wedding reception . He is not the nicest man around and seems to get under Nikki's skin. Guess when you break up, the other person doesn't seen to take rejection well. Drew just won't stop at taking jobs from Nikki, because now he is is at an expo claiming a recipe as his own. Nikki is furious and can't believe he could stoop that low. Her recipe being displayed as Drew's is going to far,  she thinks.

When the women  decide to confront Drew about the recipe, they instead discover his lifeless body. And who gets blamed for the murder? Well I think we can guess who everyone thinks it is. The story is funny, and the women seem to really get in a lot of messes, but they must prove who really killed Drew. Will they prove their innocence ? Will they continue to keep their businesses or will the scandal destroy their livelihood? It's a race to see who the killer is and these extraordinary women are in the fight for their life. The author writes such a great story with twists and turns, I could not put the book down. The description of the town was so quaint , I think I would love to live there. To say I'm a huge fan of Ms. Smith is an understatement. Her books are always well written with charm and characters that you can't help but like.

THE CONFESSIONS OF X by SUZANNE M. WOLFE

To read a book filled with rich history is such a treat. The story is breathtaking and very in depth. It revolves around a concubine of Augustine of Hippo. It's funny that we don't know much about her but with the wonderful writing of the author, her story is being told for all to read. It's nice when an author does research on a subject and it is transformed into a story that sweeps across the pages. The details are superb and the depth this woman had on Augustine was very touching.

Many know that St. Augustine was a Catholic philosopher but what did this young woman do to his life? Did she help make decisions or influence him in any way? The symbolism is a  interesting as St. Augustine must decide what they mean. Is a baby significant enough to experience unconditional love? The transformation that X portrays in the story is both pure beauty and a journey that captures a love so touching that you can't help but feel the emotions. I found myself glued to the pages as I read of a little known person who had so much impact on a well known figure in history. What is the plan that God had for St. Augustine? Will he accept it or struggle through great loss and pain? This is truly an exceptional story of love, loss, pain and the call of God on a person's life. I enjoyed every intricate detail of a love story that captures you in an era that was hard for some. The decisions that X makes are heartbreaking but shows how love can be both rewarding and painful at times.

MERMAID MOON by COLLEEN COBLE

It is always nice to read the second book in a series. You already know some of the characters, so it feels like catching up with old friends. The author does a great job of reacquainting readers with characters and introducing new ones with ease. Her writing style is smooth and deliberate which keeps you on your toes. I love a great mystery and this  is one of the best.

Mallory is trying to reclaim her life after the loss of her husband. It is hard to move on, but she is doing her best. When she gets a phone call from her dad, she is perplexed. She senses something is not right and returns to Mermaid Point after fifteen years.  When her dad dies, she must come to terms with the past . She runs into Kevin
who  at one point she thought would be her future. Old hurts and memories surface and she must face them head on. Why does Mallory suddenly get death threats on her and her daughter's life? Is there more to her father's death than she has been told?

Mermaid Moon is a very suspenseful book with secrets that could tear a town apart. The web of lies and deceit are so intricately woven, you are on the edge of your seat. It must feel eerie to come back home, only to discover you don't know who to trust. The author has brilliantly given us a rich story filled with mysterious characters and weaves the lives of many together to a story you won't forget. It seems like nothing is as it should be in this quaint little town and Mallory is determined to get answers. We all make mistakes, but will Mallory be able to recover from hers?

SHAMAN'S FIRE by SANDY CATHCART

I love books about Native Americans and always enjoy reading the history of the different tribes. Being part Native American, I was especially intrigued by this book. The author has done a great job of not only describing the culture, but has brought readers into the vivid accounts of important customs and beliefs. The book is written with great knowledge and you find yourself transformed to the very core of their great respect for land and people.

Sayla is  a singer living in a world where she feels torn. She likes the modern conveniences but is drawn to her heritage. It is a struggle for her to continue when several people close to her die. When she comes across the Shaman's Fire, she will discover things about herself and the heritage she came from. I loved the vivid description the author uses to paint a picture of hope for Sayla. She will have to face several choices that will change her forever. The journey is of self discovery of a young Native American woman who will embrace her heritage while facing pain, loneliness and perhaps restoration. I could not put the book down as the author captured a story that is seldom told from the perspective of Native Americans. It is a mesmerizing story and I hope to read more from this captivating author.

WOMAN THOU ART LOOSED ! By T.D. JAKES

This is a great book to encourage you  and start moving past pain. Some of us have gone through tremendous heartache and as we get older, those memories can hold us back. Be of good cheer though, because it is time to be set free from the bondage that the enemy has tried to deceive us with. I loved how the author tackles hard issues and shows you that we can overcome by the power of the Word. It is time to be free and stand tall women.

There are many chapters in the book that give you insight into the trauma of childhood, low self esteem and even hating yourself . I found myself crying for that little girl who was never able to be free. It is painful to think that no one loves you, and you walk around with shame . But we don't have to live like that anymore. The book is powerful, straight forward and so encouraging that I couldn't put it down. As you read the book, let the healing begin as you soak in the words of wisdom and freedom. "The triumphant woman locked inside shall come forth to where she belongs."

THE FEATHERED BONE by JULIE CANTRELL

After reading this gripping novel I can only sit and stare at the wall. The emotional turmoil this book took me through was so powerful that I wanted to scream. Few authors can capture the essence of a feeling and have the reader feel it in their soul. I can say without a doubt this author took me into the depths of hell and showed me ugliness I never want to see again. It is such a powerful story that I could not stop reading it. The caliber of writing is far superior than well seasoned authors on the best sellers list today.

The book centers around a field trip where something very tragic happens. It is every parents worse nightmare. The consequences of that day will set a course for depression , domestic violence, suicide , trafficking and many more unthinkable horrors that is faced by children everyday. The author handles the different subjects with grace, but gives a believable look into a gritty underworld of abuse that only be survived by the grace of God. I loved how the author always focused on hope for the characters and gave a glimpse into the power of faith and determination.

I will without hesitation say this has to be at the top of my list of best books ever written. The author took characters and gave them a face with words that scattered across the pages as they came to life. There were tears shed as I finished the book. It has changed be forever and I won't forget the story of survival and torture that seeps through the pages of a book worthy of the best of the best in fiction.

I love books like this where you get the chance to read different authors. The book was a treat to read and I found each story to be very well written.

In Love At Mistletoe  Inn by Cindy Kirk we are introduced to Hope and John. They were young and so in love, How many remember your real first love? You didn't think you could live without.  It didn't seem to bother Hope and John that they were young as they said I do that day. After all the papers were never sent off to be legalized. so they walked away thinking it was all just for fun.   Ten years later Hope and John run into each other. What will happen when they discover they are still legally married?  Can this couple find the spark they once had? It is a nice story of forgiveness and finding true love.

A Brush With Love by Rachel Hauck is a moving story about Ginger Winters. As a child she went through a tragic accident that left her with scars both physically and emotionally, So many of us carry those hidden scars which stops us from finding happiness. We begin to hide from the world because we think no one can stand to look at us.   I loved how the author tells a beautiful story of a young woman who discovers that people can  see past scars to the beauty that is inside.  Can emotional scars hold us back from living with confidence. This story will bring tears to your eyes as Ginger tries to reconnect to an old boyfriend. Will she find peace ?

Serving up a Sweetheart by Cheryl Wyatt is another great addition to this book . Meadow Larson was teased in school and those painful memories still haunt her today. Have you ever been bullied? Can hurtful words ever be forgotten? Meadow's life at home was not much better. Living in an abusive home as a child left many scars for Meadow.,  I found that the author wrote a very touching story and showed readers how words really can hurt you. When Meadow runs into Colin, a classmate from school she is not quite sure she can trust him. Will Meadow find a way to forgive?

It was a book that I found to have valuable lessons about unconditional love, forgiveness and encouragement. We are reminded that God loves us and  to look past the physical and see the beauty within. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

PLANET HEAL THYSELF by JORDAN RUBIN

This book is a wealth of information to help you eat better, feel better and help your family to make wise decisions when it comes to food. It can be confusing trying to figure out what is good for our bodies . I liked when the author said," You can never go wrong eating foods that God created in a form that is healthy for the body."  While reading through this book I realized I really didn't know what "extra" stuff was being added to my food that I bought at the store.

It is interesting to note that the author has a tremendous knowledge about nutrients, vitamins and other sources that we need. The world has made it so difficult to decider between "good food and bad food." The smartest thing we can do is watch what we eat, make it natural and leave out all the extra stuff that is not healthy for us. How do we do this? We educate ourselves by reading an informative book like this for starters.

Many of us have food allergies and it can sometimes be a struggle to find something to eat. It may not be the actual food we are allergic to, but the added ingredients that are making us sick. One of the topics he touched on was eggs. I was interested in this  because we have our own laying hens. We know exactly what they are being fed and I feel comfortable knowing they are farm fresh right from our own hens. I will have to go back through this book more slowly and really get the full benefits of a very in depth study of foods , water  and plants including herbs that are beneficial to us.

I love farmers markets where there is an abundance of farm fresh everything. The fruits and vegetables are lush and you can smell the freshness bursting through. The author points out that this is a great opportunity to support local farmers while getting healthy foods. Thank you for writing a book that is valuable to everyone who wants to have a healthy body and a healthy planet.

IF I RUN by TERRI BLACKSTOCK

What would you do if you were accused of a crime that you knew you didn't commit? Would you run as fast as you could, or stay and hope for the best? If you are looking for a fast paced thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, grab a copy of this book. It has everything in it to keep readers up late finishing a story so gripping that you find your heart beating a little faster as you turn each page. The main character, Casey suffers from a traumatic event that happened when she was only 12. She never quite got over it and suffers from PTSD. She is a fiercely competent woman who never backs down. I love her determination and strength. The author has written characters that make you want to scream at them or reach a hand out to help them.

The story really picks up steam when Casey is accused of a heinous crime. She runs without thinking of the consequences. She must prove her innocence at all cost while  also trying to prove corruption in the police department. Casey can't trust anyone and the author gives us a story that is torn from the front page of everyday America .

The other main character in the book , Dylan is a true hero in my eyes. He is assigned a case that will have him looking over his shoulders to see who the bad guys really are.  Dylan also is dealing with PTSD and has to deal with it throughout the story. Dylan is strong willed and his faith never wavers as he has to face the past that haunts him sometimes. I hope you are ready for a roller coaster ride as you read this book. The author has clearly written twists and turns that have you clinging to your chair as you ride through an adventure that is mystery at its top level. The ending is a cliffhanger so fans  of Terri Blackstock will be eagerly anticipating the next installment in this series.

RELEASING SPIRITUAL GIFTS TODAY by JAMES W. GOLL

To understand spiritual gifts we must understand that they are not something you use when you are bored. They are to be used in our daily walk. God gives us these gifts to help others, and to work together as a body of Christ.I  like how the author explains that we need to being seeking what gifts He has for us. It is important that the body of Christ use these gifts to operate together .

This is a very in depth study of the Gifts of The Holy Spirit and he does a great job of explaining them in layman's terms. He tells us to take risks and not just sit in a pew waiting for the perfect time to use your gifts. Do we sometimes worry what others might say if we start operating in our gifts? God doesn't want us to be fearful, He wants us to go out and spread His word. The book is a great tool to use for those who are just starting to operate in their gifts. It can also be used for those who are looking for more meaning and a richer understanding of The Holy Spirit. I liked how he broke the book down into sections and guided us through what each gift means and how to operate in them. Not all of us will have received the same gifts like teaching or discernment , but they are to be used together as one body. He raised a great question later in the book that I thought was so much needed an answer. There is not one gift more important than another one. "But the best gift is always going to be the one that is needed at the moment."
