I didn't think it was possible that the author could write any better than she already does. Folks I'm here to tell you that this book has all the makings of a movie. It's not just about a baby that is very ill, but of a mother that carries guilt and shame. Tiffany is the type of character many can relate to. How many of us have done something we regret? Do we forgive ourselves or live in condemnation? I loved this character so much, I felt like I was in the hospital room with her. The author has written an honest, gritty and in your face book about one woman's struggle to overcome her past, forgive herself for something she wanted to do and find strength to fight for her daughter.
Jake is a good person but has times where he doesn't know if he should stand up to his mother or not. Will Jake find his voice or allow his mother to control his life? His relationship with Tiffany is shaky at times. Can they overcome obstacles and save their marriage? Patricia , Jake's mother means well, but her attitude towards Tiffany was harsh. I applaud Tiffany for biting her tongue many times when Patricia belittled her. The pain and inner struggle Tiffany faced was so hard to read at times, I felt the tears as they streamed down my face. This is a book I will never forget.
I loved how the author brought back a very special character from a previous book. I remember this character well and had hoped to see her in another one of the author 's books. The faith this woman has is unshakable and Tiffany can feel her undeniable belief in God. I loved watching Tiffany slowly reaching out to God more. Her past plays a pivotal role in the story and I loved how the author took Tiffany through trials and watched her become stronger and think more clearly.
The baby in the story is so precious and I wanted to hold her and pray for her. Tiffany and Jake have a long road ahead of them as their baby fights for her life. The decisions they were faced with were so tremendous I had to stop reading for a bit. A child is so special and a gift from God. When a child is very ill, it takes a toll on the entire family. I thought the author did an amazing job of showing the good days and the bad days that challenged them. She writes with realism and doesn't pull any punches. The characters are as real as you can get and the dialogue is exactly what needs to be said. This is a powerful book that goes deep into a person's inner thoughts and feelings of shame, guilt, unforgiveness and rips them out for God to heal. Every time I read a book from this author, my faith grows. Thank you for writing a book that shows me how to ask God for help and learn how to forgive myself.
