THE NOBLE GUARDIAN by MICHELLE GRIEP
What a wonderful story this is. I loved the adventure the author took us on and how vivid the details were. Abigail has never really experienced true love most of her life. I was appalled at how dismissive her family was to her. They couldn’t get rid of her fast enough and to a complete stranger at that. Her family didn’t care about her safety as was quite evident when she ventured out on her own.
A prearranged marriage to a Baron was awaiting her and she was excited to be wanted by someone. When Abigail hires Samuel to see her safely to her destination, the journey began. I can’t forget to mention how much I liked Samuel. He is strong, hard headed and true to his word.
I really enjoyed reading about the long journey they took and the dangers they faced. It was not an easy trip and there were times I wasn’t sure if they would make it. I kept thinking how odd it was that Abigail was traveling to marry a man she didn’t really know. What would this man called Sir Johnathan gain by marrying Abigail? Along the way they also have to deliver a child to someone that Samuel promised he would do. The place he was to leave little Emma was not fit for anyone to live in. Emma stole my heart and I loved the addition of her to the story.
The author delivers a wonderful story that takes us across miles of land and danger that surrounds the main characters. The banter between Abigail and Samuel at times is hysterical. I could see right through them and knew there was an attraction brewing between them. They both adored Emma and as they drew closer to Abigail’s destination, you could feel the emotions overflowing. Is it possible that Abagail has already found love?
I did not like nor trust Sir Johnathan at all. He was rude, untrustworthy and really just a mean person. His dislike for Emma is obvious and that didn’t set well with Samuel or Abigail. He is definitely hiding something and I didn’t feel like he was marrying Abigail for love. Will Abagail trust God to guide her? Don’t miss this beautifully written story of finding love and happiness.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

About the Author
For research in December, Caryl McAdoo hit the trail—literally, the Oregon / California Trail—beginning in St. Jo, Missouri with the Napa Valley being her destiny. No wonder readers enjoy her novels so well! She prays her story brings God glory, and He blesses the award-winning, best-selling novels with a lion’s share of 5-Star ratings! With forty-three titles (thirty-three in the last four-and-a-half years), it’s obvious she loves writing almost as much as singing the new songs the Lord gives her. (Listen to a few at YouTube.) Celebrating fifty years being married to Ron, her high school sweetheart, she counts their four children and eighteen grandsugars life’s best blessings. The McAdoos live in the woods south of Clarksville, seat of Red River County in far Northeast Texas, waiting expectantly for God to open the next door.
More from Caryl
Remi, my May ‘Prairie Roses Collection’ story, picks up where Uniquely Common, my April ‘Lockets and Lace Collection’ story ends! Well, actually it backs up a bit to Remi’s decision to go west! In Uniquely Common, you meet her after she’s already in Saint Jo, trying to join the wagon train.
I fell in love with this semi-introvert, lover of literature, highly intelligent young lady, and felt the cover captured her exactly! (Thank you, Chautona Having, my new amazing cover designer! I am so blessed!)
Remi, short for Remington—her middle name as she hates her first name Agnus—is an only child reared by a single mother. Her father left years ago; she’s never met him and decides to go to California where his last letter was postmarked to do just that. It’s a long way from New York City, but better than sailing across the Atlantic.
And she can’t stay there with nowhere to live since her newest stepfather is whisking her mother overseas to his villa in Southern France. They invite her of course, but she hates boats and gets frightfully seasick! It seems the perfect time to go west and meet her Daddy. Riding in a prairie schooner would be a lark!
Researching for the covered wagons heading west led my dear husband to ask if I wanted to drive the Oregon / California Trail. Yes, yes, yes, I assured him! What could be better than seeing the rivers my wagon train had to cross, the amazing sights my characters would experience, and the terrain they navigated for ourselves?
What an opportunity God put before me!
Two weeks and forty-three hundred-plus miles later, we got back home to Clarksville, enthralled with our journey. That trip has made this story so much better for me! I hope it will make it all the better for you, too! I praise and give glory to the Lord for His many blessings and high favor.
I’m so grateful for the stories He gives us, His divine appointments—like with Sandy Barela, the founder of Celebrate Lit, all her amazing bloggers and reviewers—the doors He opens, my new cover designer Chautona Havig and all the fictional characters He introduces me to and allows me to share with you!

Can you hear the wagon wheels as they slowly go over rough terrain? Is that dust up ahead whipping in the wind? Will the wagons be safe as they travel to their destination? Those questions are answered in this adventure as we travel along with Remi. Oh how I liked this character so much. She decides to go to California to meet her father for the first time and leaves her old life behind.. I don't think she will be missed by her mother or step-father when they say they are going to be gone for a very long time. I admired Demi for being so strong and making arrangements for her own wagon and oxen.
I loved reading about the places Remi traveled through and how vivid the descriptions were. The author really did her research on this story as she traveled the Oregon/California trail herself which makes this story so special. Her heart is in this story as she experienced what it must have been like riding through rain and mud. I was very intrigued by the information about oxen. You don't hear much about these animals, but in the frontier they were in much demand. Their strength and endurance helped Demi as she steered them along the trail. I can't imagine what it would be like to travel by wagon for months with only what you have packed to survive on.
There is one point in the story where Remi has to navigate her wagon through a very dangerous slope. I held my breath as she looked over the path to plot her strategy. It is so easy to get drawn into the story because the writing makes you feel like you are beside Remi in the wagon. The story is full of surprises and emotional moments. Meeting Asher in the story was refreshing. An honest to goodness gentleman who has a heart of gold. I loved the obvious attraction Remi and Asher have for each other. It will take some time to see where this relationship goes as both have some emotional baggage to deal with. I loved how the author shares God throughout the story and how important it was for the characters to trust Him to keep them safe.
I really enjoyed the story and how much it reminded me of my granddad. He traveled by covered wagon from Kansas to Oklahoma to homestead his land. His stories are very similar to what Remi experienced on her travels. One of the best things about this author is that she makes her characters come alive with poetic words. She brings her readers into the story and gives them a front row seat as the adventure plays out right before their eyes. I didn't want the story to end because I was enjoying my journey on the trails and feeling like I was part of the amazing adventure. I can't wait to read the next book in this adventure.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit.. The review is my own opinion.

Ms. Jackson is fast becoming one of my go to authors to read. She writes stories that are emotional and filled with characters that are easy to relate to. Sadie is a character that touched my heart and I wanted her to find peace within herself. When she returns to town after being away for a couple of years, she runs into her high school sweetheart. Kyle is a little shook up to see Sadie back. There is a lot of history between them and a bit of uncertainty on Kyle's part. Will he give her a second chance?
Kyle needs to concentrate on his new position of pastor. Taking over his father's church will be a big challenge and he will need God's guidance as he takes over as pastor. It would be so hard to step into your father's shoes after he has been steadfast in the church for years.
What is good about this author is how she is able to write about difficult subjects in a way that readers can feel compassion for. She makes the characters come to life and you can't help but like them. I loved how she took two people who shared a past and let them walk through trust and forgiveness. They each make choices that may be difficult but I loved following their journey.
It is a good story that lets us see how forgiving God is and how He has a plan for our lives. I will be looking for more books coming up from this author. Her writing is filled with faith and she has a gift of allowing readers to see what second chances can be like.

I’m beyond excited to finally share Caleb’s Song with you all!!
Something I love doing with my stories, is writing songs that become the character’s life songs.
I’ve done it for most of my books.
In A Marvelous Redeemer, Caleb suffers his way through learning several valuable lessons. But His Redeemer never left his side for a single moment.
We don’t have to try and make it through this world alone, because Jesus walks beside us all the way.
Through Jesus, we can find freedom, victory, peace, love and forgiveness. We can find ultimate joy in the sweet presence of our gracious, Marvelous Redeemer.
I hope you enjoy Caleb’s Song!
You can also check out his song on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXykDvOTGVc
And read an exclusive interview with Caleb Haddington and more of the royal family on my blog: https://thepenofthewriter.weebly.com/character-fun.html
(And even have the chance to ask Caleb a few questions of your own!!)
Caleb’s Song:
“A speck on the horizon, nothing big, nothing tall.
Just an ant on this earth,
trying to break down this wall.
A trembling wind, a small ship on the sea,
Understanding this world is not all about me.
Just an ant on this earth,
trying to break down this wall.
A trembling wind, a small ship on the sea,
Understanding this world is not all about me.
Trying to fix all my problems, trying to right all my wrongs.
I just need someone stronger to carry me along.
I can build up walls, and hide within,
but the pain is still there, with no way to win.
I just need someone stronger to carry me along.
I can build up walls, and hide within,
but the pain is still there, with no way to win.
I need love,
I need a Savior,
I need the Prince who was born in a manger.
I need strength, in all my weakness.
I need a light to chase all my darkness.
I need Jesus, I need Jesus.
I need a Savior,
I need the Prince who was born in a manger.
I need strength, in all my weakness.
I need a light to chase all my darkness.
I need Jesus, I need Jesus.
My well is so empty, my spirit is dry.
No relief from this pain, though I try and I try.
I can’t do this anymore, my life is a mess,
I just want to win this battle, nothing more, nothing less.
No relief from this pain, though I try and I try.
I can’t do this anymore, my life is a mess,
I just want to win this battle, nothing more, nothing less.
This world offers answers that only appease for a day.
But I’ve finally found my life source, the only One, the only Way.
My burden’s now been lifted, I’ve found a life boat on the sea.
My walls are broken down, I’ve found victory!
But I’ve finally found my life source, the only One, the only Way.
My burden’s now been lifted, I’ve found a life boat on the sea.
My walls are broken down, I’ve found victory!
In His love, in my Savior, in my Prince
who was born in a manger.
He is strength, in all my weakness.
He is the light to chase all my darkness.
I’ve found Jesus, I’ve found Jesus.”
who was born in a manger.
He is strength, in all my weakness.
He is the light to chase all my darkness.
I’ve found Jesus, I’ve found Jesus.”
This is a beautiful story about a young girl named Amira who stands up to her family and shares her love and faith for Jesus. This was a bold step for her since her family is Muslim. Every time I read a book where a character stands up for their faith, I am in awe of them. How hard would it be to defend your faith against your entire family? Amira is a good character and her life changes drastically when she has to leave her home to keep herself safe. I can't believe all the turmoil she went through just to survive. Just as she thinks she finds a safe place to stay, danger takes her off into the woods where she has no shelter or food. A child of thirteen thrown out of places where she found shelter made me angry. Such a strong girl yet very vulnerable at the same time.
Caleb was quite a character and I enjoyed reading how he wanted to find Amira. He is brave and won't stop till he finds her. It was not easy for him to escape the palace with guards everywhere, but he was able to outsmart everyone and off he goes. Two young people, one thirteen and the other fourteen on separate paths that will soon cross. I found the book to be quite an adventure and thought the author does a great job of keeping readers involved in the story. I do want to address the numerous scriptures in the book. Yes there are many, however each one fits the story perfectly and I appreciate how the author did her homework on picking just the right ones to fit the story at the right time. I love her wisdom in scriptures and made the story come together in an amazing way.
I really liked when Amira said, " Never did I imagine that a single choice could affect my life with such intensity, and why because of one choice, my life would never be the same again." it reminds me of when I accepted Jesus into my heart how everything seemed different. That one choice gave me unconditional love and hope. The story is a great example of learning to trust God and knowing he will always be there for you. There is a bit of suspense in the story that revolves around a map. It will become very significant when the map reveals the greatest treasure of all.
