Turmoil and the terror of fighting against a giant wolf, the Bandersnatch is bad enough, but when the Ivory Queen’s secrets are exposed, Hatter and Alice face off in a battle of wills and points of view. How can Alice trust a woman who deceived them?  Why can’t Hatter see the bigger picture?  If they don’t reconcile their differences, more could be at risk than the Ivory Kingdom.

More questions than answers bombard them in their quest for truth and freedom for all. Who is stealing children? What dark secret overshadows the Ivory Kingdom? Can they avoid the Bandersnatch’s clutches? And most important of all, who can they trust?

More from Tabitha

Writing Lost in Wonderland was such a wonderful creative outlet for my imagination. After writing Madness in Wonderland, I knew I wasn’t ready to let these characters go. They were anxious for new challenges and new adventures that allowed them to explore more of the world they’d just freed.

Of course, new characters were a must, and Scarlett stepped right up to have her story told.

While Madness in Wonderland is an Alice in Wonderland and Frankenstein mashup, for Lost in Wonderland, I went with a Through the Looking Glass and Red Riding Hood mashup that gave a deeper well of storytelling for Wonderland and brought all sorts of new creatures into the mix.

Alice and Hatter face new obstacles in their journey, and Scarlett is not one to be left behind. Especially when he has her loyal guard Faolan by her side.

Prepare to set sail across a new Wonderland.

MY REVIEW

I really enjoyed the first book in this series and recommend that readers read it first before reading this one. The author does a great job of  giving us a steampunk story fresh with dragons, queens and a quest to save others.  The scenery is flashy in a next world way where castles hide secrets and threats are near by. I loved reading how Alice is kidnapped and taken to a castle where someone awaits her with a mission.

Someone is snatching children away from their homes and the woods are very dangerous as darkness draws near. Alice and her sister now face a devastating loss as Alice’s niece Scarlett is missing. I liked how Scarlett is very independent and wants to find   who is behind the mission of taking children. She has a need to prove that she can take care of herself but her friend Faolan is always near to watch over her.  Their friendship is much like Alice and the Hatter. They rely on each other and feel safe when they work together in any situation.

The author delivers a great tale of good vs evil in this story where one queen cannot leave the castle while another is out looking for the beast who dares to kidnap people especially girls. Rumors abound in this story as two castles fight for freedom and lies are spread that  could fracture relationships. I began to wonder if Alice could trust anyone. Scarlett is off  on an adventure where no one knows where she is. Can Alice rescue  Scarlett in time? There is a clear message in the story where power becomes more important than lives.

As the battle rages Alice realizes that she needs faith and trust in order to survive what was ahead. Could she find strength when she needed it the most? The ending is definitely filled with action and drama as the battle comes to metal meeting metal in steampunk fashion. It is a  great  book with wonderful characters that are sure to entertain readers who love steampunk with a touch of faith.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
