God wants us to live a supernatural lifestyle, full of His grace and power! He wants us to be free of problems that hinder us from moving forward in life, such as fear, guilt, and depression. He desires that we move in miracles, signs, and wonders as we expand His kingdom on earth.

However, many believers never enter into a supernatural lifestyle because they are held back by false ideas of what it means to be a Christian, how they should relate to their heavenly Father, and how to be led by the Spirit—misconceptions that have been entrenched in their minds for years.

What will unlock the code of the supernatural in our lives, enabling us to live a dynamic, Spirit-filled life?

Through my study of God’s Word, personal experiences, and ministry to thousands of Christians, I have found that when we don’t have a clear understanding of what it means to be brand-new in Christ, we block the flow of God’s Spirit within us. Unless we truly know who we are in Jesus, we will lack confidence in His ability to work miracles through us. If we rely on our own efforts rather than the power of the Holy Spirit within us, we will constantly be frustrated. If we feel trapped and condemned by our past, believing God would never be able to use us because of our bad choices or failures—or what others have done to us—we will be hindered from walking in the supernatural.

I have designed this book to unveil the various facets of what it means to be a new creation in Christ and live according to the Spirit. We will look at a number of key Scriptures, especially from the Gospels and the Epistles, that relate to this theme. These Scriptures, reviewed in sequence, will strengthen our understanding of our life in Christ, reinforcing vital biblical truths until we gain a full picture of our spiritual newness. In this way, with each chapter, we will progressively renew our minds to unlock the code of the supernatural and find the secret to God’s power in us.

MY REVIEW

Like the author, I was saved as a young child. I didn’t fully understand what it meant to be a Christian, but I knew I felt different. I now had someone who would watch over me and protect me. What I really liked about the book was this statement; We will be “ticking time bombs” that destroy the enemy’s schemes wherever we go.” We will be filled with wisdom and knowledge concerning our Creator and all He made us to be. Simply put, we will be dangerously new creations!” Our need to understand how to fight the enemy is vital to our Christian life. The author delivers a book that is encouraging, easy to read and provides scriptures and Bible studies to reinforce the topic of the book.

The author doesn’t mix words while explaining that we need to act like Christians who trust God and won’t settle for living in poverty, sickness or depression. Sometimes I think we get comfortable and forget that when we go through a test it is to make us stronger. Fight the good fight and don’t allow the enemy to wear us down. We need to have the mind of Christ and walk in freedom everyday.

The author does touch on a few subjects that some may not agree with like speaking in tongues. I always say, “If it is not in the Bible, then it is not true.” I remember being younger and a lady in church started speaking in tongues. It scared me because I was never taught what speaking in tongues was. When I became an adult I found a church that spoke about this subject and I understood it more. I want readers to decide for themselves what they believe in. I think the author does a good job of explaining subjects that Christians have questioned.

Overall I liked the book, the questions provided at the end of the chapters and the prayers that help us to grow in the Word. “ The truth is, we either believe the Word of God or we don’t. We need to be reminded of what the Scriptures say and then believe and act on what God is telling us.”

In the near-future world of Veiled Sun, reality is an endangered species. The erosion of confidence in traditional sources of undisputed truth–media, government, academia and science, religion, family, and friends—forces continual skepticism and self-reliance. Virtual reality allows us to trick our minds into thinking we’ve literally stepped into another world and augmented reality brings elements of other worlds into our own. Deep Fake is even offering the ability to change past realities by manipulating audio and video recordings in ways our minds can’t distinguish from the real thing.

1 Corinthians 13 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture and verse twelve is probably one of the clearest places to see a sentiment key to the series:

“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I am fully known.”

Veiled Sun follows a teen who knows that reality is being tampered with for nefarious purposes. More important he also sees beyond the physical reality to the spiritual while handling an attack on both. Believers need to be firmly grounded in their faith in a world that increasingly muddles the lines between real and not real, truth and falsehood. There’s research that suggests our brains interpret what we read in the same way as lived experiences. So, in a sense GK Chesterton and others were right when they told us long ago that what we read becomes a part of us. My hope is readers will be better prepared to weather the storms that will come against their faith and hold onto the Truth even as truth is increasingly difficult to discern from fiction.

MY REVIEW

It finally happened. I officially like dystopia. This book has brought me to the truth that this genre can be very entertaining while weaving God’s word in the story. The author has surpassed my expectations of a world in the future. The year is AD 2040. Technology is one of unexplained algorithms and invisibility, brainwashing, hallucinations and more tricks to deceive the world.

It didn’t take me long to join Elliott on his adventure to stop Project Alexandria. He holds the key gifted to him by his grandfather. A mere seventeen years old, Elliott is ready to take on the enemy and assemble the “Veiled Sun.” The program can stop the evil but first Elliott must be able to gather all the data to put it together like a puzzle.

The story is a very fast paced adventure into a world where iPads are thought of as obsolete. I had to laugh at that as I am writing my review on an iPad right now. The author is brilliant in his description of various programs that need to be used in order to counter the destruction that is about to take place. Elliott is running against the clock as people around him try to stop him from completing his mission. I loved how Elliott declared his faith and quoted scripture to help him overcome obstacles. Just when I thought a character could be trusted, the author slams me with the reality that greed overcomes doing the right thing for some.

It was ironic to read about how hackers were trying to take down the government, overthrow the Feds and cripple the world. During this time in our own world, that very thing seems to be happening. Enemies are out there and we have to be on guard at all times. The author reminds us that God is always near. Elliott is shot at, drugged and at times kept in a state of semi conscious. It was hard for him to decipher what was real and what was a dream. Those moments in the story are some of the best writing from a person who shows his ability to take readers into the world of dystopia. I have never read so fast in my life because I had to know what was happening at every moment. My surroundings disappeared as I walked with Elliott on his journey to undo what the enemy was trying to use for evil.

The ending is a cliffhanger and I am hoping the author is busy on the next book because I won’t be able to wait long. Will Elliott succeed at what his grandfather couldn’t? Can Elliott discern who to trust? This is one of the best dystopia books I have ever read.

MY REVIEW

I remember reading the first book in this series and thinking that it reminded me of something. As I finished this book, it suddenly came to me. Now I know the book is fantasy but it so resembles an anime type story. There is one in particular that my son had me hooked on. This series however is much better than that show because beneath the surface of the story lies lessons of faith. The author allows us to soar away with Ivy as she gets ready for her new mission.

Ivy is a bit stronger and more assured of herself. I kept hoping she wouldn’t let her guard down and allow herself to become used by an enemy that is very crafty. I really liked that Ivy could shift into another form. Oh how the imagination in this story is so entertaining. I’m thrilled that Martin is back with us . I adore him and think he has become someone to be reckon with. His ability to heal others is quite intriguing and makes me wonder if it zaps his strength when he uses his power. My mind just goes crazy reading this book because it has so many intricate parts that help readers keep their attention glued to the story.

I’m amazed that an author can deliver a story that stretches the imagination yet gives a story that teaches valuable lessons. There is a passage in the story that made me stop and really think. “And if you are comfortable in one form, it’s not easy to adjust to another.” Do we sometimes feel so content where we are at, that we don’t want to step out of our comfort zone? Does sin make us feel so comfy, that we don’t want to fight off the enemy? That one little section in the story really impacted me. I now understood why Ivy was so determined to fight.

I loved this book even more than the first maybe because I witnessed the maturity of the characters and the way they are able to forgive. The author does an amazing job of showing us what it is like to face our fears and allow ourselves to overcome them. I’m not there with my fears yet, but each day I become a little more determined like Ivy did in the story.

It’s easy to get trapped by our own uncertainties and insecurities, and let fear rule our actions. Only when we take our eyes off our own frailty and act out of faith in God and love for others can we become all we were meant and made to be… and the longer we delay, the more others may suffer for it. Can we pray together for strength to start doing what’s right in our homes, our neighbourhoods and our churches, no matter how unqualified we feel to do it?

About the Author

Native SoCal author and illustrator, backpacker on crooked trails, amateur photographer and more recently, creativity encourager, Clyde enjoys teaching foundational basics and appreciation for drawing and painting to as many aspiring artists as  he can. With unprecedented changes in the current social and commerce atmosphere, he is exploring the realm of Virtual Online classes in Art Instruction. “I’ve been blessed to be able to combine visual conceptualization with writing. Right from the get-go, nothing but an exciting synergy leading into any project! Is it the writing, or the illustration that incites a certain section or aspect of a book? At every turn, a toss up, but the reciprocalities are always movement forward.

I Spy a Tiger, a project my wife and I collaborated on while our boys, Tyler and Bryce were little was a bright season of creativity and joy I’ll always cherish. Anne, writing the first draft while I designed and executed the layout and illustrations and later, contributing copy rewrites and additions.

Birthdays, anniversaries, intertwined with school, sports, scouting and all the natural inevitabilities maturing families encounter, quickly moved us into cascading seasons of life. Unceremoniously, I Spy, was slipped “underneath the bed,” along with some forgotten toys, for quite some time until, finally, its first edition was published in 2008.

The seasons of life are many. And what we see, looking back over the years of our family’s tapestry, are divine gold filaments of God, indelibly sown in and amongst our bound human threads.

We easily see it with all the good, but also, in all the not so good, despite our choices in self-power and self-will. Testimonies to His providence in all the victories, but more glorious, His presence with each advent of His protective shield through our trials. Grace and mercy ever present throughout the entirety of our family’s legacy.

And now, with this latest season, in the only way a good God can, I’m seeing I Spy’s second edition in a different light! We’re all anticipating a first grandson, due in December. And come Spring, 2021, another grandchild! With impeccable timing, more golden threads of His glory spun and sown in!

What fun, my new life as a Grampy, highlighted by the first reading of I Spywith grandson, Sonny! And in the blink of an eye, another baby San Juan in April.

The blessings of reading of a book together with the little ones in your lives are eternal. Miraculous, serendipitous, laughter laden moments forever! Last night, I went outside, experiencing the first nip of the new season and was prompted to a romantic ditty . . .

tell me of the season’s changes . . .

frosty mornings with steaming mugs of cocoa.

piles of fiery leaves tromped through, buffeted
about in all directions . . .

listening to the wind, I sketch in the shadows
that cling to every detail like the lichen . . .

and when I run with that fox, flash of reddish fur,

to the place where the great owl sleeps,

tell me of the honkings of Canadian Geese overhead.

MY REVIEW

I adored this little book filled with delightful animals. The illustrations are perfect for the story and I know young children will find this book a treasure to have. I loved how the author points out how God has made beautiful animals for us and we should enjoy their presence. My favorite was the tiger because it was so cute. Each animal showed a fun personality and will being a smile to children as they hear about how animals enrich our lives.
