About the Author

Sarah Neisen is a graduate of the New Day School of Ministry and Co-Founder of Discipleship Training Ministries, SSM. Along with her husband Lee, they seek to teach and encourage believers in their identity in Christ so that the Good News may be preached throughout the world with signs, wonders, and miracles.

She is a regular speaker at churches in the river valley region of Minnesota and a guest speaker at local women’s groups and retreats. Sarah and her husband have one son whom she homeschools. They live on a farm in south-central Minnesota with a plethora of chickens, ducks, cows, and other animals.

In the spring of 2007, 3-year-old in tow, I entered a small independent Christian bookstore which would impact the direction of my life more than I thought possible. The owner introduced herself, and in the following 2 years, introduced me to an extravagance of books written by individuals who spoke directly to my heart.

I had felt for some time I was at a crossroads in my life. I was content in my Christianity, content in my church, content in my marriage, but reading the word I knew there was more to life than contentment. The waves of circumstance continued to rock me and I felt as though I had been living on ever-shifting sand.

After a time of slowly reading the books the owner Ms. Mary handed to me, I began to understand just what was missing. My Redeemer had more for me, and I needed to follow His lead. One Sunday morning, my husband approached me and informed me we were going to attend ministry school together. I was not amused. We lived on a farm with many animals, and I home schooled our son. There was no time to attend classes every week. I couldn’t find time to read more books, do more bible study, or seek God more than I already had time for.

Grudgingly, I attended the first week, but I heard the Father say I was to continue and understand the plan He had for me. In the end, it wasn’t the Father I was learning about, it was the Father I learned from. I now approached Him with a greater excitement and joy. He was no longer distant, he was closer than anyone, and He knew me and still liked me.

Looking back is always easier than looking forward because we see God’s moves in hindsight rather than by faith. Now in ministry, I witness so many people floundering where I once was on shifting sand. In my heart, I know the answer is discipleship.

Jesus tells all believers to become fishers of men, but it’s His intention we make disciples. Believers who are not only saved but who are equipped with the knowledge and understanding of God’s Word to follow the plan and purpose for their lives.

This is why my husband and I formed Discipleship Training Ministries. We pray all who follow this study would come to a deeper understanding of God’s love and grace through Jesus Christ and all would be further equipped to do those works appointed them.

MY REVIEW

This a beautiful devotion that will give you a deeper understanding of The Song Of Solomon. The author takes us chapter by chapter and gives us a fresh look at God’s love. I really like how she includes other scriptures from different books in the Bible. You can feel calmness come over you as you slowly go through the study.

When I get a devotional or Bible study, I pull out a journal and write notes as I read. If they include questions in the book, I write this in the journal as well. I do this so I can go back to the study at a later date and compare my thoughts and answers. It is nice to see where my faith has grown since I studied last time.

If you are looking for something to help you study The Song of Solomon this is the one to get. It includes prayers that are helpful as well as illustrations from the Bible. Each chapter builds on the other and I decided this is one I would spend a lot of time on. I love studies that go into more detail and help you understand what scripture is talking about. One of the things I really liked was the scriptures that were included for us to look up and answer questions about it. It is more than just looking at one chapter but many that shows God’s unconditional love.

MY REVIEW

I love the way the author not only takes readers on a vivid journey through caves and mountains but transports readers back in time. I could feel Laura’s feet slip as she hugged the mountainside. She has had a hard time forgiving herself for shooting Aaron. Now she carries the guilt of him never being able to walk again. I liked the back story about her brother and the tragic end he chose. In this time period there wasn’t much a doctor could do to insure that Aaron would ever be able to walk again.

Nate is a caring and faithful man who tries so hard to help his brother Aaron. It isn’t easy to see his brother in so much pain and losing his faith. I think it was a little hard for him also because Laura has become special to him. They must both fight to help Aaron overcome his lack of wanting to go on.

I really enjoyed the adventure the author takes us on as we enter caves thought to be uninhabited. It was a shock to find people there, but there is also a mystery about the caves. Why is someone hiding supplies in the cave? This propels Laura and Nate to work closely with each to solve the mystery hiding in the cave. There is danger that comes their way, but in the midst of everything there is God.

I absolutely loved the scene between Aaron and Laura. It is no surprise that Aaron is bitter towards God and Laura. He is struggling to want to keep going but is discouraged. Laura and Nate don’t give up and continue to push Aaron to fight for strength. A beautiful moment in the story that made me cry is when Aaron humbled himself and lets down the barrier that has held him back from believing in God. This is the best of the story and I have to say Aaron was my favorite character. To witness the anger, bitterness and hopelessness fall away is what makes this story so inspiring.

Who doesn’t love a good cave?

Well, maybe not everyone, but I have to confess, I love exploring!

While there aren’t many caves near my South Carolina home, I’ve always loved the idea of finding an opening hidden in the rocks. Then venturing in and finding a huge cavern filled with stalactites and stalagmites and a host of other beauties I can’t pronounce!

And dark tunnels? As long as I have a light and a string to unravel as I go so I can get back out, I’m game!

Unfortunately, I’ve never found a large cave in real life that had never been explored, but in Faith’s Mountain Home, Nate and Laura found exactly that! Although…turns out, it had been discovered by someone already. I won’t give you (too many) spoilers, but let me just tell you there’s a precocious Native American girl involved, and a few other things not so delightful.

The good news is, you can enjoy the story without actually entering the pitch black cavern!

Last summer, I had the opportunity to tour a cave with many features like Nate and Laura discovered in their hidden cave. The Caverns of Sonora in Sonora, Texas was a fantastic experience! As you can imagine, it’s hard to get good pictures in solid darkness, but here are a few of the amazing formations still growing in those two miles of underground tunnels.

Her Maisie came first, then when the second baby girl was born, the mother passed, leaving the chef a widower with a tiny daughter. I believe the journey will take the readers on a rollercoaster ride!

MY REVIEW

I really enjoyed this story so much that I didn’t want it to end. The author writes with a flare of humor in this story. Priscilla is a sweet young lady who finds herself on a train to Texas to get a husband. Life sure will be different for her once she hits her destination. I laughed as she realizes that the man she is to marry doesn’t even know about her. On my does Priscilla have a few surprises in store for her.

Quincy is a very accomplished chef who works at the hotel Priscilla will be staying at. He has no idea what a few people have schemed behind his back. They think it’s time he remarries but is he ready ? I adored his daughter Rayne and she stole the spotlight in this story. She adores her dad and loves being around her dad as he cooks but wants a mother so bad. She is not shy at all and talks day and night. I would love to be around her just because of her energy. The story made me hungry as we read about different dishes being made. Poor Priscilla doesn’t know how to cook, so maybe this will be a great match for her and Quincy.

I couldn’t wait to see how Quincy and Priscilla interact with each other. They develop a friendship as he teaches her how to cook. I cheered when she made her first biscuit. I have not accomplished that yet. I don’t cook and really don’t know how to. I’m blessed that my husband is a wonderful man who loves to cook. The chemistry between Quincy and Priscilla is not rushed and I like that in the story. The author develops her characters in a way that gives us a glimpse of their heart. It is a clean read with Biblical references that allow faith to guide our characters. I enjoyed reading a lighter and more humorous story than the author usually writes. It shows her talent and gives me another series to look forward to. As always her story helps me grow closer to God as the lesson is trusting God and enjoying the love of a family.
