THE CALLING by RACHELLE DEKKER

I am beginning to like dystopian books more everyday. The latest book from Rachelle Dekker is at the top of list in this fast growing genre. She definitely knows how to draw a reader in with her unique style of writing. She gives us a world where there is a sense of fighting against darkness and overcoming fear. The action is at the top of the charts with twists that have you on the edge of your seat.

Some of the characters from the first book in this series is back to deliver a powerful message of trusting God and being chosen to do something you thought you would never be able to do. What if you were called to do do something out of your comfort zone?  The story takes readers on a journey that is vivid and creative. Remko seems to be the focus of this book and the character is well developed and delves into a world where nothing is what it seems. Fans of this exciting genre will not be disappointed as they read this book filled with encouragement, facing fears and a journey that seems like a roller coaster ride that leaves you wanting the book to not end. The author has a great talent and I look forward to more from her. Her uncanny ability to take a reader into another place and make them feel like they are part of the story is a talent that makes an author stand out.

IN SEARCH OF DESTINY by DERINDA BABCOCK

This book is so fascinating and filled history that really takes you back to the pioneer days. The author did a great job of telling facts that were precise and very well researched. I felt like I was riding along on the trail in a covered wagon. The hot dusty trail was taking a toll on people but they had a destiny to achieve.

Is it possible that someone from the future could visit these settlers and  change everything ? Who was Lexie and what was her purpose to travel back in time and share things with a family traveling in harsh conditions? They must have been shocked when they saw this contraption called an iPod and a camera that took amazing pictures. There were times that I did find myself not sure where the story was going, but I did enjoy the concert of a time traveler. The author does  do a great job of giving a very interesting story that could change the course for families during an era that was hard to survive . I will encourage readers to really read this book with an open mind and enjoy the adventure. It is well written and if you find yourself not sure where the story is going, keep reading. It truly is a great historical book with subjects like slavery, families helping each other and a sense of faith that sees them through tough times

. There was a woman named Lexie who perhaps was brought to the past to warn people of wars, to stop people from making wrong decisions and to help people have a better life. What would you do if someone from the future came to give you information to help you? Would you listen with hope or turn away and perhaps change your destiny?

THE STRANGER IN MEDALLION LOAFERS by AUSTIN B. TUCKER

This book was such a pleasure to read. It reminds of a great detective book where the boys are sleuths and always get themselves into more trouble than they bargain for. The bond between Allen and Juan is very well written and keeps the reader invested in the story as they take a journey that is filled with mystery, friendship and so much more.

Have you ever been so curious about something, that you couldn't help yourself ? You just had to know what was going on and plowed ahead into the unknown. That is exactly what Allen and Juan do. They start following a man who is carrying a basketball around the school.  What is this man up to? Is he out to do harm to the school? The boys are hot on his trail as their adrenaline kicks in. They feel an urgency that danger is coming and they must stop it before someone gets hurt.

The author does a great job of keeping the readers adrenaline going with an action packed race against evil. The story has twists and turns and has a great message of hope, finding a deeper relationship with God and an understanding that God never leaves us. He is always there to help us and I enjoyed how the author weaved this message into the story. The characters are well developed and keeps the story interesting . I hope there are more books from this author so I can enjoy the writing style of an amazing author. This is a great young adult book but  anyone would enjoy reading this adventure that keeps you guessing.

JUPITER LIGHTHOUSE MYSTERY by FREDERIC R ST LAURENT SR

I love books that have mystery, great characters and a story that is easy to follow. I found all those qualities in this great book. Right from the beginning I knew I would enjoy this book. I have always been fascinated by lighthouses. They were a beacon of light for ships at sea so they could find their way home. Lighthouses can also be mysterious and a great place to explore.

In this story we find the Simmons family getting ready for a journey they won't soon forget. One of the main things of a lighthouse is that bright light that glows in the dark across the waves. For some reason , the light wasn't there on a fateful night . Without the light to guide ships, it caused a shipwreck . What caused the light to disappear that night? What would you do if you were the captain of a ship and couldn't find your way home?

As the family starts to settle into their routine at the lighthouse, one of the children finds a logbook that contains past light keepers  notes. The author does  an amazing job of giving readers the history of lighthouses. I could picture one as he described it in vivid detail. The logbook was something I was so intrigued about. It's like a diary where secrets are stored. The captain really gave us a sense of what the days were like. Is the lighthouse haunted? What are the strange noises that are heard? I appreciated the Indian folklore and history that complimented the book. It's a great adventure to read, filled with mystery, history and a story that is a page turner. The author has a creative way to tell a story that keeps the reader's attention . I had to keep reading  the book until I finished the last page. There was no way I could stop reading until I found  how the story ended it is a very  well written mystery that will keep readers intrigued until the end.

POWER OF PROPHETIC PRAYER KYNAN BRIDGES

I really enjoyed this book because it talked about a subject that for some is hard to understand. I grew up in a church and I was not really introduced to prophetic prayer. When I became older I found a church that taught on the subject. This book delves deep into prophetic prayer that helps you understand just how powerful it is. I love the way the author is very precise and even gives you prayers at the end of several chapters to help you get a deeper understanding of it. I appreciate the author writing a book that is exceptional on the subject and very easy to comprehend.

The book is very easy to follow and can be a great tool for anyone wanting to have a deeper prayer life. It's funny how I have prayed for years, even thinking I was doing prophetic prayer the right way. . After reading this book, I can say I now understand how to effectively pray in the prophetic and feel comfortable doing it. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to go deeper in their prayer life.
