I enjoyed meeting these characters and visiting the town of Three Rivers. Much of it felt like somewhere I visited before and that’s something I always enjoy about cozies. That and the colorful characters that roam the pages.

This was a fun addition to a great series. I like that this series takes place with a pub owner as the main character and the pub as the back drop.

Synopsis
Another intoxicating mystery featuring brew pub owner Maxine “Max” O’Hara—from the author of To Brew or Not to Brew.BEER TODAY, GONE TOMORROW…Brew pub owner Maxine “Max” O’Hara and her chef/boyfriend, Jake Lambert, are excited to be participating in the Three Rivers Brews and Burgers Festival. Max hopes to win the coveted Golden Stein for best craft beer—but even if she doesn’t, the festival will be great publicity for her Allegheny Brew House.Or will it? When notoriously nasty food and beverage critic Reginald Mobley is drafted as a last-minute replacement judge, Max dreads a punishing review. Her fears are confirmed when Mobley literally spits out her beer, but things get even worse when the cranky critic drops dead right after trying one of Jake’s burgers. Now an ambitious new police detective is determined to pin Mobley’s murder on Max and Jake, who must pore over the clues to protect their freedom and reputations—and to find the self-appointed judge, jury, and executioner.

From the moment I started reading this book, I knew I would be in for a story that would take me on an adventure filled with intrigue and exciting characters. The author does an amazing job of detailing the ins and outs of brewing. It was very interesting to read how a beer is made from scratch.
Max O'Hara is a pub owner and also brews her own beers. She is excited to be in the Three Rivers Brews and Burgers Festival. Maybe she will win the Golden Stein this year. The festival is something that Max has been looking forward to for a long time. Max is a hard working and feisty woman. She has poured hours into making pub successful and the crowing glory would be to win this year.
Oh my what to say about Jake Lambert besides he is tall, handsome , athletic and an ex hockey player. Lucky Max just happens to be his girlfriend. All the women swoon over him and I can image that irritates Max a bit. Jake has entered the burger contest. An ex hockey player turned chef is a great combination that brings excitement to the story.
Ok I'm picturing the festival as it spreads across acres of land. You can hear music blaring , people everywhere , beer is freely flowing and you can smell burgers as they sizzle on the grill. The author really did a great job of taking readers right into the hustle and bustle of the excitement. Her descriptions of the various beers were so good, I could almost taste them.
Of course there is always that one cranky person who struts around thinking he is the best and will win hands down. Add to the list a much hated judge and you have all the makings for a action packed story. I loved the way the author weaves a story of murder mixed with jealousy and hate. Who is killed at the festival? Will Max be able to solve the case before suspicion is placed on her and Jake. The list is long and everyone seems to have a reason to want this person dead. I really liked Detective Falk. He is new to the force and really makes enemies fast as he tries to prove he can solve the murder. His character is cocky and I laughed as he really thought he could intimidate Max and Jake. The poor man really wants to solve this case . I loved the non stop action and wow was I surprised at the ending. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
I received a copy of this book from The Great Escapes Book Tour . The review is my own opinion and I was not compensated for it.
