About the Book
Title: Guide your Mind, Guard your Heart, Grace your Tongue
Author: Carol Burton McLeod
Genre: Non-Fiction, Christian Living
Release Date: April 3, 2018
Every single one of us with a beating heart has spoken words “under the influence” of warped feelings and slurred thinking. And we soon wish we had the magical power to take those words back. We especially regret the hurtful words we have spoken to those we love the most and know the best. This book may just be the solution.
Carol McLeod reveals that before the words are spoken, they brew in our heartsand are formed in our minds. It’s our thoughts and emotions that determine what words come out of our mouths. Guide Your Mind, Guard Your Heart, Grace Your Tongue is an innovative blueprint that will enable you to take control of your thoughts and feelings in order to grace your tongue. You won’t find pat answers here, but rather powerful strategies based on the Word of God to reroute disordered thinking and cure rotten emotions so your words can be humbly grateful instead of grumbly hateful.

I looked everywhere in the book for my name because I was sure she was addressing me. The book was meant for me to read and it sure did make me do some attitude adjustment. That silly mind of us plays tricks on us everyday. Sometimes I get this thought in my head and then think, "Where did that come from?" I always imagined my life growing up to be like "Leave it to Beaver" where the mom is always dressed up, house is perfect and each meal is wonderful and enjoyed by the entire family. Well it was all in my head, because my life was nothing like that. My mind told me how unwanted I was and how stupid I was. Yes, I grew up believing that and even today I still think that.
I'm hoping all that will slowly change as I absorb the wonderful tools the author has given to have a healthy brain. One of my favorite verses is found in Romans 12:2 which says, " And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." I am encouraged by that verse because it reminds me that I can renew my mind all the time just by reading His word and being in His presence.
The book is divided up into different topics and has an application at the end of every chapter. I loved how the author gives examples that you can apply to your life and scriptures to read to help you grow and start having a good mind filled with joy. One of the chapters I really liked was about why God gave us a tongue. It certainly wasn't to reject people, say unkind things to them or judge them." Our tongue is to praise Him, to speak His words, and to encourage others." That really woke me up just reading that. I hope everyone will get a chance to read this book and allow it to renew your mind and love others unconditionally.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit." The review is my own opinion.
