MY REVIEW

If you are looking for  a sweet and clean story look no further. This book is a fast read but it sure has some great lessons in it. Our two main characters find themselves both looking for answers when they meet at a B&B. The B&B  is run by Callie’s aunt and is the perfect place for Callie to not only help her aunt but also to get some much needed time away from work.  Her character is sweet and hard working but a little confused about a relationship she is having trouble committing to.  I like that she has a passion for baking which will come in handy while helping out at the B&B.

Jackson is in town thanks to his brother who signed him up for a matchmaking vacation which happens to be sponsored by someone staying at the B&B. I couldn’t wait to see where the author would take Callie and Jackson on this adventure to find love. Jackson is not quite thrilled about the matchmaking but maybe he can at least find a friend. The different activities they have all the couples participate are fun and really help break the ice. I wonder if anyone will find love?

What I like about the book is that it is faith based and definitely has some good lessons in the story. For Callie it is trying to figure out her life and finding her way back to God. Jackson is grounded in his faith and this helps Callie to be drawn to him. Trust seems to hold one person back but will they learn to allow God to direct their path? Don’t miss this fun story with wonderful characters and a special little puppy with a cute name.

 CAPPUCCINO CRIMINAL BY TONYA KAPPES

In the quaint town of Honey Springs, the Bean Hive Coffee Shop is the heart and soul of the community, and its vivacious owner, Roxy Bloom, is always ready to serve up a steaming cup of java with a side of gossip. But when a brewing storm of real estate treachery ends with the cold-blooded murder of a local agent, Roxy finds herself in the thick of a frothy whodunit that's anything but decaffeinated.

The victim, a hotshot real estate agent, had been spearheading a massive development project that went sour after an intrepid environmentalist unearthed a reason for the town to put the kibosh on the plan. Now, with the town's picturesque charm drawing tourists in droves, Roxy must grind through a list of suspects as long as a coffee bean's journey from farm to cup.

From double-shot deceptions to espresso intrigues, Roxy's quest to unmask the Cappuccino Criminal will plunge her deep into the dark heart of Honey Springs' seedy underbelly. As she sifts through a muddy mixture of secrets, lies, and steamed milk, Roxy will have to rely on her wit, intuition, and the help of her loyal friends to solve the mystery before it boils over and scalds them all.

In this steamy, cozy mystery with a frothy blend of suspense and humor, the stakes have never been higher—or the coffee stronger. It's time for Roxy Bloom to pull the perfect shot and catch the Cappuccino Criminal before their next bitter brew leaves someone else in the grinder. So, curl up with a cup of your favorite beverage, and join Roxy in this un-put-downable tale of murder, mystery, and macchiatos.

Killer Coffee Cozy Mystery is a series about small town gossip, family, friends, and putting differences aside when troubles brews.
Do you love to read about family and friendships?
Do you enjoy holidays, festivals, and celebrations?
What about when life isn't always rosy?
This series has all of that and more along with twisty turn mysteries that will have you rooting for the entire town of Honey Springs.

MY REVIEW

I am back in Holy Springs, Kentucky with my dear friend Roxy. Visiting her at her adorable coffee shop is the highlight of my day. Oh did I mention that the author has given me the feeling that I am actually part of the story? Well let’s see what happens as there seems to be a little disturbance in the coffee shop. Someone is not happy about some land development and threats are made. Roxy is not happy with this happening in her coffee shop and asks one of them to leave  the shop.

I loved how much research  went into this book with details of land development and what steps need to be made in order to build. There sure is a lot of talk about the new project and it seems  that  not everyone is happy with change. I know I don’t do well with change either. The town is divided on the plans but all that comes to a screeching halt when a murder takes place. Roxy is now in investigation mode as a prominent fixture in the community has been killed. There are many suspects and I was so sure this time I would figure out who the guilty person is. I loved the twists in the story and how the author gives clever clues that sometimes made me think I had solved the case.

Get ready for a story that will keep  you guessing and some oh my scenes as suspect after suspect start to get Roxy’s attention. Roxy does get herself into to a jam when she starts to question people who could be dangerous. I like how she loves her town and wants to make sure that it stays safe as she continues to solve the crime. In this case I was shocked at the outcome and would never have guessed what happened. Once  again the  author delivers a great  story that kept me glued to the  book and reminded me that small towns are a great place to find a sense of community as people look out for each other.

I received a digital copy of the book from the author. The review is my own opinion.

VEIL OF DESTRUCTION BY VANNETTA CHAPMAN

It’s been six months since all of the lower orbital satellites crashed to Earth. Akule Lopez has waited through every one of those days...waited to see her brother arrive home in Alpine.

Now she’s done waiting. Winter has fallen across the desolate Texas landscape. Rumors of war and insurrection abound. Akule doesn’t know how she’ll get from Alpine to Dallas. She doesn’t even know that her brother is still there. But she does know that she’s going to find out.

Her father doesn’t want her to go, but Akule isn’t a child anymore. She doesn’t need her father’s permission. She also understands that if she goes, if she dies in the attempt, then her father will have lost both of his children. She won’t let that happen. If it’s the last thing she ever does, she will find Paco and bring him home.

What sacrifice is too big, when it seems your life has been draped in a Veil of Destruction?

From USA Today Bestselling author Vannetta Chapman comes a survival series unlike any other.

Veil of Destruction is book three in a new post-apocalyptic survival thriller series from USA Today Bestselling Author Vannetta Chapman. An exciting contribution to the genre of disaster fiction, this is a series that will keep you reading late into the night.

REVIEW

I have read many books by this author and loved each one. Now that she has ventured out into a new genre I am so impressed and applaud her for the exceptional transition from one genre to another. It is without question that this new series is one that makes you think. The world is not the same after destruction happened and the author vividly described  what it may look like if this became a reality. The storyline is very good and easy to follow. I love the setting that is in Texas since I call Texas home.

To think that everything has changed for the characters in this story is unimaginable at times. Their strength to survive is powerful and when obstacles come they join together as a group to keep everyone together. What would it be like to have no food, no technology, not even electricity?

Akule and her family are the center of this story. What a challenge faces this family as they travel to find Akule’s brother  and his family. The  adventure is filled with danger as they encounter other groups who are not all friendly.  I can’t imagine having to walk for long days always on alert to get to safety.

What I really like about the story is the close connection the group has. They meet challenges together and never give up. The story is an Illustration of trust and will power and a little faith. The author makes you feel like you are a part of the story as  each scene is powerful. The need to go home after their journey is what drives them and keeps them going. They have seen many things on their journey, but coming home was where they would find safety and  peace.

I received a digital copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.

More from Karen

Are you looking for God honoring books that will captivate your child’s imagination, teach them faith-building biblical concepts, and help them grow in their reading skills?

Then I have the perfect book for your young reader…Guess How Much God Loves You

This beautifully illustrated book introduces young readers to the Creation Account, through the eyes of seven year old Lucy Lu, a creatively curious first grader who is starting to have serious questions about God.

Questions like…

How old is He? Does He sleep? What does He do all day? And the biggest one of all – does God really love me?

After one very hard day, feeling like she doesn’t matter, Lucy sits with her Papa Joe who has promised to answer these questions and more, launching them onto an exciting journey through the Bible to discover God’s never changing, never failing, never ending love.

I wrote this book because I want every child to know their life matters. To know that the God of all things created them in His image, on purpose and for a good purpose.

Guess How Much God Loves You will have seven books in the series with each one covering an important Bible account critical to building an understanding of God’s character and His love for all people, including your reader!

This first book is about the Creation Account as recorded in the Bible. Future books will cover the Garden of Eden, Noah’s Ark, the Exodus and more.

I want children to understand these are not just stories about fictional characters, but historical accounts about real people they can relate to. People who experienced God’s power, love, and faithfulness.

My greatest desire is to see this next generation trust the Bible and enjoy reading it. More than ever, young readers need to hear the message that they are valuable, loved unconditionally by the One who created them and gave them the best gift of all, His Son Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

MY REVIEW

I love when I find books that I can read and pass on to my grandchildren. This book is beautifully illustrated with colors that pop off the pages. I plan on doing  a FaceTime with my granddaughters and use this book as story time. The ideal age for this book would be kindergarten thru third grade but younger ones will enjoy it as well.

Lucy is struggling with self confidence as classmates start to make fun of her. I know how that feels all too well. It hurts and makes you feel unwanted. Lucy begins to question if  God loves her. I like that she is taking interest in knowing God and discovering just how much He loves each of us. As her grandpa begins to share from the Bible, Lucy sees that God made everything because He loves us. The trees, the  beautiful birds and even the breathtaking flowers are gifts from Him.

The author takes us on a journey in the Bible when  God created all these things that we get to enjoy.  I love  that the author illustrated grandpa reading from the Bible. This will encourage children to want to have their own so they can learn more about God.

What a great story to show children that they are loved and special. Lucy is now excited to read more from the Bible and begin her relationship with God.
