About the book

It's the exciting start of a brand-new series by a contemporary romance fan favorite!
After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he's diagnosed with an inherited condition, he's forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John's already dating someone and Nora's not sure she's ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they're seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

First I have to say how much I love the cover. There is something so innocent about the woman but yet mysterious. It is definitely perfect for this story. I absolutely adore Nora. She has such a cool job as a historian, genealogist and village owner. That is one busy lady with a resume that would impress anyone. I have been doing some genealogy research and I have to say it is one of the most fascinating things I have ever done. Nora craves details and loves to dig deep to get answers. With the help of her sisters they have quite a village going . I was very impressed with the chocolate store. Can you imagine working there everyday?

John is a former Navy Seal and with the authors great description he must be easy on the eye. He is humble about what he accomplished as a Seal and I loved how the author portrayed him. It's not hard to fall in love with these characters as the author makes them so  likeable. John is on a quest to find his birth mother and maybe with Nora's help he will succeed. I did enjoy the banter between them. Nora is quite funny trying to intimidate John but she is having no luck. I think she may be just a bit school girl crush over him. Will she let her guard down as they start to develop a relationship?

I loved the makeover Nora got thanks to her sister. I can remember having my makeup done once. I walked out of the store feeling on top of the world. Nora has confidence she never had before and I think it made her character very relatable to readers. The author really knows how to keeps readers attention with details of the three sisters background. Oh my goodness it  is such good reading. I have to come back to John for a moment. The vivid details the author gives about Navy  Seals and their missions are so tension filled I was grasping the arm of my chair.

To say that I loved this book is not enough. There are so many details and intricate scenes throughout the book that I couldn't possibly do justice to them. All I can say is well done Becky Wade. You have captured a story with poise, faith and compassion. I hope readers will run and grab a copy for themselves.

I received a copy of this book from LitFuse and Bethany House. The review is my own opinion.

I really liked Antonio who  is  the main character in the story. He is a hard working man going to law school and driving as a Buber driver to make extra income. The name Buber is so close to the other name we are familiar with that I wish the author could have come up with a different name. The story surrounds a woman he picks up one night . She is kinda quiet and you can tell she has a lot on her mind. Antonio discovers that she left her briefcase behind when he dropped her off.

What did the mysterious woman tell Antonio that could be dangerous for him to know? Is the briefcase holding secrets that people would kill for? Antonio will find himself in a dangerous cat and mouse game that spans throughout the government and into the Russian mob. He sure has gotten himself into a mess. The story is a quick read and I liked how the author showed Antonio praying and depending on God to keep him safe. I noticed something while I was reading the book that really fascinated me. There is a scene in the book about someone in a casket wearing glasses. A character was questioning why they would put glasses on if the person is suppose to look like they are sleeping in the casket. I thought that was a brilliant analogy and such attention to detail that I continued to read with added interest. I love when an author can put subtle things in a story that makes people think.

Overall the book is a great adventure and has enough thrills and intrigue to keep readers engrossed in the book. At the end the author gives us a sneak peek at the next book in the series. I'm excited to read it and get to know Antonio a bit better.

I received a copy of this book from a LitFuse. The review is my own opinion.

Mrs. Odboddy: Undercover Courier
by Elaine Faber

This book is a hoot, wait until you get to the names of some of the characters, Mrs. Whistlemeyer, a rooster, Chief Waddlemucker, the police, and of course Odboddy for a started, are just a couple, full of chuckles.

Asked to accompany Mrs. Roosevelt on her Pacific Island tour, Agnes and Katherine travel by train to Washington, D.C. Agnes carries a package for Colonel Farthingworth to President Roosevelt.
Convinced the package contains secret war documents, Agnes expects Nazi spies to try and derail her mission.
She meets Irving, whose wife mysteriously disappears from the train; Nanny, the unfeeling caregiver to little Madeline; two soldiers bound for training as Tuskegee airmen; and Charles, the shell-shocked veteran, who lends an unexpected helping hand. Who will Agnes trust? Who is the Nazi spy?
When enemy forces make a final attempt to steal the package in Washington, D.C., Agnes must accept her own vulnerability as a warrior on the home front.
Can Agnes overcome multiple obstacles, deliver the package to the President, and still meet Mrs. Roosevelt’s plane before she leaves for the Pacific Islands?
Mrs. Odboddy: Undercover Courier is a hysterical frolic on a train across the United States during WWII, as Agnes embarks on this critical mission.

I am so excited to find this amazing author. The time period is wonderful and the author describes it with great detail. I have found a new hero named Mrs .Odboddy. She is a great character with a no nonsense attitude. Her escapades are a thrill ride with danger lurking at every corner. I would love to travel by train someday as the author made it sound very intriguing. The author has a great sense of humor by the many funny names she uses for her characters.

Mrs. Odboddy is once again on a secret mission to deliver a package to the president of the United States. That package served as the focal point of the story. It was driving me crazy wondering what was in the package. The adventure Mrs. Odboddy and her granddaughter Katherine encounter on their trip is funny and dangerous. I absolutely loved the people they meet on the train. I loved how the author reminded readers that there was racial prejudice going on during this time period. The more I read the book, the more I loved Mrs. Odboddy. She was not worried about what people  thought as she bought a meal for soldiers who were treated with prejudice.

The story is quite entertaining as the two women try to reach their destination of Washington D. C. It was hard to figure out who  to trust on their travels . Along the journey  something  happens to separate Katherine from her grandmother. Who is after the package ? What secret does it contain? I really liked learning more about Hoover and the workings of the FBI. This is one book that will have you hooked from the first page. Mrs Odboddy is one dedicated American and will do anything to complete her mission. I can't wait to read more from this very talented author.

I received a copy of this book from The Great Escapes Book Tour. The review is my own opinion.
