MY REVIEW

This author has a very special gift when it comes to writing. Her stories are emotional with characters that I fell in love with. She illustrates faith by using the characters’s flaws to bring them closer to God. The time period is realistic with vivid scenes which place readers directly into the story. I love how easy it is to see the scenes come to life.

In this story the author collides the west with regency England. What a fascinating concept where a very distinguished gentleman meets a young woman fresh from the Wild West. Talk about opposites, these two main characters are groomed from different cultures. I knew right away that this would be a story that will have me reading as fast as I could.

It is a marriage of convenience story but oh so much more. We have secrets, danger, trust issues and not to mention two people who must learn to work together coming from different backgrounds. Hard choices will be faced as Enoch and Mandie both are desperate to follow God’s direction for their lives. As in many marriage of convenience stories we discover why each person decides to take a risk without knowing the other person.

I especially liked the journey that Mandie was forced to take when no response from Enoch was waiting for her at the telegraph office. A young woman alone faces a long trip with strangers sounds a bit scary. I’m not sure I would be that brave to travel with people I didn’t know to meet a total stranger who would become my husband. In this time period it is common for these types of marriages to happen but it sure would make me second guess everything. What will happen when Enoch discovers a secret that Mandie has hidden from him?

Enoch has his own worries when he must support what his father has asked of him. He knows he must now take on the task as the eldest son to change his dreams to something he was not anticipating. When he learns that Mandie has arrived he is not happy. Why didn’t she get his telegraph? Oh his mind is going in different directions as this young woman shows up. His strong convictions are a great example of a man who cares for others.

Thank you for giving readers a story that shows determination, trust and most of all faith that God has a plan. Mandie and Enoch both become enduring to me because they are honest, caring and face challenges with deep faith as their guide. Don’t miss this incredible story of a marriage of convenience where compassion shines and unconditional love is illustrated.
