A Pinch of Promise by Elizabeth Maddrey

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review

It wasn't so long ago that Becky's life was in shambles. Some people might remember her as Marie, the teenager that everyone knew as the troubled teen that her parents had to endure years of struggles with her. Her dad is a famous pastor-turned-parenting expert and writes books on the subject. The press was relentless about Becky and her troubles with drugs, being known as a bad  girl and spending time in rehab facilities. The problem was, none of the stories were true. Her father wrote about a girl with those issues, but he never said who he was referring to. Can Becky every find a way to forgive her dad and find peace about her past?

One day Marie left her hometown, changed her name and never looked back. She had a very strained relationship with her father and had no intentions of ever forgiving him for the pain she went thru because of his books. Becky becomes a physical therapist and tries  to live a quiet life. As she is working one day, someone comes in for treatment on his knee. Ben stares at his physical therapist and sees a glimmer of someone he use to know ten years ago. He can't believe that it is possible that his therapist could be the same girl he fell in love with and never got over.

This is a powerful story about forgiveness and letting go of your past. The author has written a very touching story that shows us how hard it is to let go of your anger and start to let your heart soften from all the bitterness you have held in for so long.. As Ben decides he wants to start again with Becky, she continues to pull away from him. Ben's friends encourage him to not give up on Becky . One of them tell him, "if you want someone in your life, you pursue them. And if they run the other way, then run faster. It reminds me of what we need to be doing everyday. The author gives a great example of how we need to pursue God everyday and if there are obstacles, then run faster to get to Him.

Becky has always collected salt shakers and the author writes a beautiful analogy how what the salt represents. Becky says her salt shakers remind her that we're to be salt and light, and that even the tiniest pinch of salt offered someone the promise of a better life in Christ. The book is so beautifully written and shares with us the hurt that Becky felt her father had placed on her , when he wrote his books but would never say they weren't about her.  She also gives us insight into homeless shelters and the needs that can be overwhelming for them. I loved the ending and thought it was powerful and makes you think about who you may hold unforgiveness for. It is a love story with life lessons we can all learn from. All we need is "A Pinch of Promise."

Courage Ressurrected By R. Scott Mackey

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

The story revolves around Ray who has lost his wife, Pam in a car accident thirteen years ago. The day of the accident, Ray and his wife had been in an argument that resulted in her fleeing the house in anger and driving away. Does Ray have lingering guilt of that fateful day ?

From out of nowhere, years later, Ray receives an email from someone claiming to be his dead wife. The email goes on to accuse him of trying to muder her all those years ago. Whoever this person really is they intent on getting revenge and making sure he pays for what he tried to do. Who is this person writing the emails? If his wife is really dead, then who has a grudge against him? The author begins to lay the groundwork for a mystery that takes us on a journey of Ray trying to prove his innocence while trying to stay one step ahead of the police who decide that the investigation into what happened that day need to be re examined.

Of course Ray is the main suspect or as the police call it, a person of interest. But why are there others unsavory men following him? Is it their job to make sure he gets convicted of his wife's muder or is there something more mysterious going on with these men? Why are dead bodies shoeing up that point to Ray as the suspect?

The race is on for Ray to dig as deep as he can, stay out of jail and discover the truth behind Pam's death. He gets help from Rubia, a former student from his college days. Will they be able to solve the mystery before time runs out for Ray? The author gives us a book filled with a twists, a determination from Ray to prove his innocence and an ending you won't see coming. I love the authors style of writing that gives us little tiny subtle hints that could easily be missed if you rush thru the book. I encourage you to read the book, take everything in, watch for clues skillfully hidden within the story and enjoy the ride.  )

The Guest Cottage by Nancy Thayer

Sophie has been married for sixteen years. Over the years she has noticed little changes going on with her husband. His attentiveness is not what it use to be. He seems to be working late a lot and he doesn't seem to have any interest in their children anymore. One evening her husband comes home and tells her he is in love with someone else and is leaving her. Sophie does something quite out of character for her when she decides to rent a guest cottage on Nantucket from her friend. It will be a nice vacation for her and the kids and give her time to sort out what is next in her life .

Trevor Black is a software entrepreneur and has recently lost his wife. His son , Leo is having a hard time dealing with his mother's death. Trevor needs to get away and spend time with his son and decides to rent a guest cottage in Nantucket . When they arrive at the cottage they are surprised to see a woman and two children already in the home. His idea of a quiet place where he and his son can bond and deal with the loss of his wife soon vanish as he stares at these strangers.

Sophie and Trevor decide the best option for everyone is to try to live in the same house and see how it works. They decide to assign chores in hopes that everything will run smooth. Sophie is an excellent cook so she volunteers to do the cooking if Trevor will clean the kitchen afterwords. They both have hopes that the children will get along in this crazy mixup.

The story is filled with heartache, learning to let go and finding love in the most unexpected place. The author shows us how strong and independent Sophie becomes as she learns to accept that her marriage is over. She is guarded around Trevor as they begin their adventure of being roommates in the cottage . Will Sophie turn to her love of music and find healing ? Can the children learn to live together as they share a cottage with each other?

Trevor is a caring father who wants to find love again and see his son happy . As the days go by, he sees his son starting to open up and want to play with Sophie's children. Trevor gets a glimpse that there is hope for Leo to overcome his sadness and be a happy child again.

The author has written a sweet story of two families looking for a fresh start and overcoming the pain of losing someone they love. I loved the moments that the children shared with each other as they grew to think of themselves as brothers and sister . Nancy has given us characters we fall in love with, and leaves us with a unforgettable , touching story . Will Trevor and Sophie find love again ? Is it possible that these two families will soon be one family? The answers are waiting for readers to discover in the latest moving story by an author who writes with passion and emotion.  )

Read from June 22 to 23, 2015

I was given a copy of this book by the author for an honest review

Ming and his sister Heidi are sister and brother. They tragically lost their parents in a plane crash while they were on a mission trip to the South Pacific. The relationship between Ming and Heidi is very strong and they look out for each other. Ming is a strong and hardworking man who wants the best for his sister. Heidi seems to have made a career out of going to college and can be a bit stubborn at times . Ming gently tells her it is time to put her degrees to use and get a job. The dynamics between brother and sister are very well written by the author. She describes their closeness as family that loves each other, respects each other but not afraid to speak up when necessary .

Diego is the pastor of Riverside Chapel where Ming and Heidi attend. They have been friends for awhile, but what no one knows is that Diego has loved Heidi for five years. He knows he is called to pastor a church, but thinks he is not suppose to marry. The authors shows how dedicated he is to the call on his life, but is struggling with his feelings for Heidi. They find themselves working closely together when a new place to have church open up for them. It is an answer to prayer. Where is the new church to be held? Will it be a place to draw more people in ?

I started reading this book and found myself so deeply connected to each character. Jan writes Diego has a caring , loving pastor who wants to hear from God but has doubts about what to do about marriage. He has an opportunity to kiss Heidi one evening and as he does so , she says don't miss. What does he do? With a slight grin he kisses her on the forehead. This made me laugh as I imagined this shy man who has been called to share the gospel , afraid to kiss the woman he loves. Is he unsure of Heidi's feelings? Does he think it's wrong to pursue a relationship that may disappoint God?

Throughout the book the author has scattered verses that help each character turn to the Word for answers. The scriptures help Diego with his struggles deciding is it God's will for him to take a wife. He is reminded that God wants him to have a helpmate . Will Diego realize that he has turned away from the one the Lord has given to him? Will Heidi ever stop worrying about her brother as he goes undercover to help the FBI? Heidi must learn to trust God to keep her brother safe and is given scriptures to help her rely on God's promises. " He will never leave us, nor forsake us." Will Heidi share her deep feelings with Diego or will she turn away so she doesn't cause him to stumble in his faith? If they ever kiss again, will Diego miss??

The story has all the elements that show us how people struggle with their faith, learn to trust, help others and along the way find the purpose God has for them. I read this book as soon as I received it because it has such a great message of men and women who seek God , turn to the Word to give them answers and along the way they find out that He is the one to turn to when in doubt . It is a beautiful story of love between a man and a womnan, a brother an a sisters love for each other people and most importanly the unconditional love the father has for each of us.

The Bounty Hunter by Darrell Phiri

I received a copy of this book from LibraryThing for an honest review

Jake Andersin works for the FBI and discovers that one of the heads of the department is involved in a mass corruption scheme. His nightmare begins when he finds out a four million dollar bounty has been placed on him. Jake knows the only way to survive is to run and never look back. Will Jake be able to avoid being captured or killed? Can he reinvent himself in another country and feel safe?

Kevin is a police officer who has a very ill little girl. He has raised her by himself and she is more important to him than his own life. The doctors tell him that she needs a heart transplant in order to survive. Kevin is offered a chance to have his daughters medical bills paid , but has to do something that could be illegal or cost him his own life. What does Kevin decide to do? Is Kevin willing to risk everything to save his daughter?

The author does a great job of developing the characters and keeping the story flowing . It is a great story about lies, deceit, defending the truth and survival. Once I started reading the book, I knew I was in for a book that would keep me guessing to the end. The bounty hunters are a determined , fearless group in the book that will do unthinkable things in order to assure them a payout. The race to catch Jake is packed with a nonstop roller coaster ride that makes your heart race . The author has written a good story that holds your attention throughout the book and writes an ending so powerful you won't see it coming.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

Charlotte believes that Hannah knows more about Ethan's death and she is willing to do whatever it takes to find the answers she came for. Charlotte remembers the horrible upbringing her and Ethan had endured and knows how desperate Ethan wanted be loved and feel accepted by others. Could his childhood hold the answers Charlotte is seeking, or will she continue to deceive the people in the Amish community ?

The story is filled with wonderful characters that Beth has so masterfully written with grace and writes about how depression can cause a person to fall into a darkness from which they feel they can't escape. As Charlotte continues to deceive those who she has started to care for, she begins to realize that soon the truth will be found out about who she really is.

This book has been one of the most powerful books I have read about forgiveness , acceptance, unconditional love and a journey of finding faith . I cried and laughed throughout the book and was reminded of a saying,
"Oh what a tangled web we weave.... When first we practice to deceive ."

Thank you Beth for a book that not only shows us how deceit and unforgiveness can destroy lives , but how the gift of mercy and grace will mend a broken heart. I loved this from the book, " I think it's when we are at our most broken that we are able to hear God the loudest if we really listen."  )

The ending is everything you want in a suspenseful book: women are being kidnapped and tortured , the police have a dramatic and daring encounter with the kidnapper and Mary is trying to keep herself together so she can help this msn get caught.

Until it Doesn't by Zoe Marshall

I received this book from the author for an honest review

Bailey is all about leggings, sweatshirts and just being comfy.  She loves to push the boundaries and is considered by many to be outspoken, cocky, and downright rude. She has a job as a waitress that she tolerates because it pays the bill. Her aspiration is to an actress. Yes she wants to be famous and have it all, however life doesn't always turn out the way Bailey had  hoped for. When she is discouraged she turns to her favorite dessert in the world , ice cream. Yes, Bailey thinks that ice cream or as one of her friends call it, "frozen sugar milk" is the cure all.

Bailey feels lucky to have her best friend, Mark to confide in. She tells him everything and they always find time to hang out, talk , eat icecream or just relax in each other's company. It is a very comfortable relationship between them. Bailey loves to rant about her horrible job and how little she is paid. The customers annoy her and Mark gets to hear all about her latest crazy customers . Bailey also gives him an earful about her ex-boyfriend Shane. Will she ever be able to move on or will she carry her love for him forever ?

Bailey finally gets a break in the acting world. Well it might just be the understudy to the lead actress, but Mark is so excited for her. He believes in her more than she does herself at times. Mark is the kind of friend that is always there for Bailey, but how long will that last? Does Mark have deep feelings for Bailey? Can she always count on him to be there?

The book made me laugh so hard at times, I felt like I wanted to be part of Bailey's group. The author does a tremendous job of developing her characters and story that I couldn't put the book down. I loved when one of the characters said, "The past is only the future with lights on." What a great point she made when she wrote that statement. The future can be brighter if we forget the past and move forward. As a debut author , Zoe Marshall hits this book out of the park.

On a Ring and a Prayer by Sandra Bricker

I am never disappointed when I read one of Sandra's books. This one stood out especially because it deals with a woman betrayed and how she struggles to overcome it.
Jessie had it all . She was married to a successful husband who showered her with everything her heart desired. She could purchase anything she wanted and wore the most expensive and latest fashions. Her days were filled with shopping, having lunch with friends and enjoying the good life.
One day , her husband leaves with no warning. Jessie finds herself penniless, alone and wondering what to do next. The journey she takes is one you will never forget. atbthe end of every chapter is a memory of words spoken from her Grampy. These words encourage her along her journey. I loved this part of the book because it reminds us of someone in our life that spoke to us when we felt helpless . Sandra's book make you laughing some parts of the story and shows the struggle of losing everything and how to bounce back stronger than you were.
Sandra writes with such depth for her characters and this book will not disappoint. A highly recommended book that will take you from anger, despair , finding trust and a little romance mixed in a book that gives you hope and encouragement for all who are or have struggled. This book is one not to be missed!  )

When Garan, leaves for his assignment in the army , she decides to move. And doesn't tell him thst she is pregnant. She leaves her German town in Texas and heads to Abilene, Texas. She soon finds work at a department store owned by the Collins family . Beth becomes friends with Agnes a member of the Collins family. What no one knows is that Beth is living a lie. Because she was so angry that Garn enlisted , she stopped writing to him. She can't forgive him for leaving her and her bitterness drives her to deceive people who care about her. What happens when she goes with her friend Agnes to the homecoming of her twin brother Alfred and his friend Smitty?

The story is rich in history and characters that deal with forgiveness and overcoming mistakes. The author writes a beautiful story that takes you back to an era where struggles abounded and family was important. She gives her characters emotional twists and turns and find themselves seeking help to find their way back to their faith and trust in God.

The book is filled with a patriotic theme that ends on the celebration of Flag Day. Thank you for a moving story that shows how lies can change the course of a person's life and how forgiveness from a town and those who love them give them hope and peace in a loving God.  )

Fateful Waters by J. M. Anton

I was given a copy of this book from LibraryThing for an honest review

This story is about two friends Melinda and Alexandra or Lexi to her friends. After graduating from an Ohio college, they set off on a trip to meet a young man who Melinda has been having an online relationship with.
David Decker has convinced Melinda to meet him in Lubbock , Texas. Melinda's parents convince her to take Lexi along on the trip so she won't be alone when she finally meets David .

As they reach Lubbock, David picks up Melinda to take her to his ranch, while Lexi is stuck driving Melinda's car. David is not to be trusted but neither girl realize the trouble that looms ahead for each of them. Lexi is given directions to the ranch , but David has cleverly given her the wrong way to go. Lexi finds herself in a rainstorm where it is hard to see. Before she knows it , she is off in a muddy ditch with clothes so wet they stick to her skin. Who is the man that saves her from drowning ? Will she be able to trust him ?

Melinda soon realizes she has made a very tragic mistake coming to meet David. She comes from a very wealthy family and David's plan was to lure her to his ranch in order to hold her for ransome. When she realizes this she is devastated and wonders why she was so trusting of a man she really didn't know.

Both young women will have many obstacles to overcome. The author does a good job of developing the characters and shows us that even though they face hard decisions they find strength to fight. It is a story that takes each young woman in different directions and introduces them to unexpected twists and turns in their seemingly safe world.

To find out if Melinda is rescued and if Lexi can adapt to her new environment you need to read this page turner to find out. This book reminds me of a romantic suspense novel in the old west days where people work hard , while some try to find an easier way to survive by being deceitful. It's a great read filled with people from different backgrounds who struggle to run a ranch, and opens the women to a culture they have never experienced.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review

As I started this short book I soon realized I was enthralled with the writing style of Sabrina. In the book you find poems that show her raw emotions and transparency. Her words flow with depth, pain , sorrow and happiness. She uses such descriptive words to show her deep emotions. You can almost feel her tears as she writes about trying to be "The Perfect Girl."

In the poem, "Listen" she begs to be let go from the pain of not being in someone's life anymore. Her desperation to be set free from the pain sent shivers done my back.

"When I'm With You" is a poem that shared with readers the love she found with someone and the true devotion , honor and trust she feels for "The One." I loved Sabrina's ability to use her words to paint a picture of her deepest thoughts and draw her readers in with a glimpse into her soul. Sabrina has left pieces of herself scattered across every page and holds no emotions back. This book is one I will want to read over and over again .

The Loyal Nine (The Boston Brahmin Book 1) by Steven Konkoly, Bobby Akart

I have been blown away!
When I saw that one of my favorite post-apocalyptic authors started this series with a co-author I just wasn't sure what to expect.

I have been blown away! This book is impeccably written with an attention to detail that is rare in any genre. It is obvious that Steven Konkoly and Bobby Akart took great pride in their research when developing the characters and plots.

This is the most frightening part, the realistic scenarios set forth in Book One of The Boston Brahmin series should turn everyone into Preppers. The novel, set in 2016, could be a foreshadow of things to come. Don't be surprised if the fictional headlines in this work become the very real headlines of tomorrow. I learned so much about the challenges facing our country. It confirms my belief that a preparedness plan is critical.

A great, thought provoking read and I highly recommend The Loyal Nine.  )

Thrillers: Blood Money: A Thriller New Release Short Story (Sam Byrne… by Robert D. Conners

I received a copy of this book from LibraryThing for an honest review
Sam has returned from serving in the military with a few problems. He has trouble sleeping at night and tries to find ways to keep himself calm. He develops a gambling problem and his life starts to spiral out of control.

He owes money to a powerfu family and is asked to do the unthinkable to repay his debt. He is worried that if he doesn't follow through with the task he has been asked to complete, someone very close to him will suffer.

This is a short story that is packed with action, revenge and a cast of characters rich with intrigue. The author does a great job of writing a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The ending is heart pounding and filled with not the end but a continuation that makes you excited for the next installment. A must read for anyone who likes unforgettable characters and heart racing action that doesn't hold back. )

The Inheritance by Morgan K Wyatt

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review

Melody works as a hospice nurse. It is not an easy job, but one she loves. She came from the foster care system and has never really felt accepted. She thinks she has flaws that make her unattractive to men . Throughout her life she has never felt loved or wanted by anyone. . She looks in a mirror and sees an overweight and lonely woman. . Because of these flaws she perceives that she has, she has become insecure .

Levi is a strong determined, no nonsense kind of man. While serving in the military , Levi lost a leg. Now that he is back home as a wounded soldier, he feels that he has nothing to offer a woman. He has returned home an angry man who must deal with a divorce that leaves him bitter and cold.

The story centers around these two different and dynamic characters and how they have to deal with living together in a home that Levi's uncle has left them. It is a great read about two people finding their self worth while opening their hearts to each other. Will Uncle Roy's greatest regret change their life? Will two people who don't trust each other be able to live in the same house?

The author does a great job of exploring the regrets people have, the hope of acceptance and finding love when you don't expect it. Morgan has given us characters that make us cry through their struggles and feel the pain they have suffered over the years. It is a story that will leave you with an emotional journey that shows you what forgiveness and hope can do to change your self esteem. I loved the way the story flowed with a depth of raw emotions and the vulnerablebility the characters experienced.

The Inheritance is the first book I have read by Morgan K. Wyatt but it will not be the last. Thank you for writing such a beautiful story and introducing me to your incredible writing style.

Coconut Chronicles:Ransome

I was given a copy of this book from the author for an honest review

We find Sam after changing jobs getting ready to take a trip to St. Thomas to do a story for a Travel Magazine about Americans who invest in property there. He takes his friend Walter along to snap pictures for his article. They get settled on the plane and Sam starts talking to Alice, the woman sitting next to him. She is traveling to St. Thomas to see her dad. As Alice begins to talk about her dad, Sam realizes he would be a great person to interview for his article. After all Alice's dad is a mainland American . They exchange numbers and agree for Sam to meet her dad to interview him.

After a long flight, Sam and Walter get settled in their little bungalow . They decide to rest before venturing out to do a bit of sightseeing. As Sam is enjoying the quiet, his cell phone rings. It's a woman on the other end of the call. She informs Sam that she mistakenly took his suitcase at the airport and he must have hers. He is anxious to get his suitcase back because it has his computer and other items needed for his article.

At this point the story takes us on an adventure straight out of a James Bond movie. The suitcase Sam has is not Maggie's. In the suitcase he finds two very large coconuts. Walter  and Sam finds that strange since they are surrounded by coconuts on the island. What is in the coconuts that are so vital to the owner of the suitcase ? Why are strange men shooting at them ?  Why is Alice's dad suddenly kidnapped ? Her dad specializes in old recovered Spanish and Caribbean treasures that has come from shipwrecks. Could that be a clue as to why he is so valuable to the kidnappers ?

The author has such a witty, funny and captivating style of writing that the reader will be glued to this well written mystery. He describes the sky as "the most beautiful deep turquoise ever seen." In another scene in the book he writes, "the sunlight became mere flecks among the high branches of the tropical trees." The authors words paint such a vivid picture , you feel as though you are in St. Thomas watching the story unfold in front of you.

As I was was reading the book I could almost hear the waves of the water, feel the breeze in the air and notice the sun as it began to bask the island in its brightness. I loved how he gave his characters such interesting traits and a strong desire to find out the truth .   This is a book filled with intrigue, an  intense race to uncover the mystery of the coconuts and a rescue so gripping that the reader will be anxious to find out the ending. This is a must read for mystery fans everywhere.

Fiona is a delicate flower who has special powers that most people would never understand. Her father adores her and will do anything to keep his darling daughter happy . They live in a mansion surrounded by wealth. Andrew is a strong willed person who falls deeply in love with Fiona. He comes from a poor family compared to Fiona, but she only sees Andrew's love and devotion for her. They decide to prick their fingers and exchange blood as a "way join not just our hearts but our soul" Fiona explains.

Not everything is as it seems though. Fiona's father does not want Andrew anywhere near his daughter. He finds a way to put Andrew in prison for several years by using his "abilities." Simon, the father, belongs to a secret group called "The Order of the Wise Serpent."

Andrew and Fiona are devastated when they realize they will be apart for years. Does Fiona have "special gifts" that will allow her to visit him in prison through her psychic powers? What will Andrew do when he discovers that he also has psychic powers by visiting Professor Dowling?

Once again Mr. Davis has written a powerful book. The characters are so rich in the determination to be together that they are willing to do anything to be forever soulmates.

The book takes us on a journey of survival, strength, and a love so deep that nothing or no one will be able to come between Fiona and Andrew. I loved the way Mr. Davis writes a story of true love and explores the subject of psychic ability In a way that you find yourself mesmerized by a great romantic suspense. At times during the story , I felt like I was reading a story of two people so deeply in love that their sacrifice to always be together took me back to the the story of Romeo and Juliet. Fiona and Andrew have that kind of love that is timeless and breathtaking to read.

I loved the book and knew I would remember this story forever as it touched me as the characters experienced unconditional love and a desire to always stand together. If you are looking for a book with romance, suspense, characters that you fall in love bring tears to your eyes cry and an author who writes with such compassion and an exceptional way to make the story flow with flawlessness, then Simpatico should be your next book to read.  )

They have developed a trust between each other and Cody believes in her ability to see things others can't. One day Cody is called into the chief's office. Suddenly Catherine's world is turned upside down. Her phones are tapped and she has noticed someone following her and watching her every movement. People that Catherine knows, are suddenly savagely being murdered and someone is trying to point the police to her as the suspect. Is she guilty of these heinous crimes ? Can her psychic powers help her find the truth?

The book has many twists and turns. It delves into the voodoo, psychic world that has many secrets and spirits. It takes us into the backwoods of a town that is well known for spreading terror and fear on those thst don't believe in the supernatural. The author , Linda has written a book so intense and heart pounding , and filled with tension that I could not put the book down. She has done a great job of developing characters that are strong , supportive and have a willingness to sacrifice theirselves in order to save others.

This is my first book I have read by Linda Prather but it will not be the last. There is a second book in this gripping, nonstop action story that I have to read. Thank you Linda for a book that have all the elements needed for a must read.  )

reviewI was given this book from the author for an honest review.

When I first looked at the book and started reading it, I thought I could do a quick read and do a review. As I began to read I saw the heart of a man who wrote a book that shared his heart and raw emotions of a journey that he never imagined he would experience. Mr. Beaufort was diagnosed at the young age of 39 with prostrate cancer. It is a true story of how he walked this path his life took him on and how he beat cancer.

One of the greatest challenges anyone faces when they get a diagnosis with the word cancer is fear. Mr. Beaufort wants to help those going through cancer treatment realize that fear can overtake you and keep you isolated from the people who care about you and want to help take this journey with you. He tells the readers that you must reach out for help. If you don't reach out for help, fear will overtake you and keep you trapped as you spiral into a deep depression that will close you off from the world . He knew that "this journey with cancer would be the hardest thing he has ever done . Any other challenges in his life would be nothing compared to beating cancer. "

In this book Mr. Beaufort gives cancer patients keys to help them go through what lays ahead. It will not be an easy road, but one made a little easier with heartfelt , emotional tips to help those with cancer endure their journey. A few key points he makes are to exercise and exercise your self esteem. If there is no one around , look in the mirror and give yourself a pep talk. Everyone knows that knowledge is power , so he encourages you to go on the defensive and become an expert in your diagnosis.

I loved when he said "Understanding your situation will help control your fear." We all have fear of the unknown, but we can conquer that fear by being informed and taking control of our situation. Throughout the book, you can feel his pain, struggles and strength as he gives readers hope and insight into how he beat cancer. As I read the book, I felt as if he was taking someone's hand and walking with them as they take the journey that he had just overcome. His desire to help others is painted by his eloquent and compassionate words that are a gift for those who are facing this disease. He spoke with passion as he wrote, "Life is to short to wait for permission to continue living. Don't allow cancer to define you."

Thank you Mr. Beaufort for a glimpse into your life as you beat cancer, overcame your fear and shared your fight to beat cancer with others. I encourage everyone that has been diagnosed or know someone that has been diagnosed with cancer to read this book. It will help you in your darkest moment, give you encouragement and empower you to lessen your fear as you take Mr. Beaufort's book and apply it on your journey. This book is not meant to be a cure for cancer , but a book about a man who walked in your shoes and overcame his fear while dealing with cancer.

Fatal Eclipse

I received a copy of Fatal Eclipse from the author for an honest review

From the moment the wedding vows are finished , the journey into the emotionally unbalanced life of Jonathan surfaces. He has married Maria, a woman he fell in love with when she was going through a tough time in her life. As Jonathan starts to unravel , it will take everything they have to keep their marriage together.

Mr. Davis has written a story so emotionally charged and thought provoking that I stayed up late into the night to finish the book. Jonathan seeks out the help of a therapist because he is having nightmares and seems to be distancing himself from his wife. The therapist, Dr. Evans seems like your typical therapist . You go in to her office, she asks questions and writes notes as Jonathan begins to talk. At one point she tells Jonathan, "Consider your fears as protectors of the truth. Through the fear lies the truth that has been hidden." Jonathan realizes that one of his fears is that he has to know that his wife is loyal. He asks himself "How do you know if you can truly trust someone if their loyalty has never been tested?" He then remembers his grandfather telling him that women can't be trusted.

This story has raw emotions that surface to the top in explosive ways. Mr. Davis has not only given us a character that seems to be on the edge of losing control, but shows what someone is willing to do to find a loyal , trusting person to spend his life with. Jonathan doesn't like the feeling of rejection and perhaps that is something that has been buried deep inside him since he was a little boy.

This book will take the reader to the depths of a person's despair and see how something buried deep inside can take over your life.
Is going to the therapist helping Jonathan? Can Maria help her husband find his way back or will she have to watch him losing his grip on reality?

Mr. Davis has written a story that will have you questioning your own emotions long after the last word is read. I loved the way he took us to a dark place in Jonathan's mind and showed a man who wanted to be free of the disturbing thoughts that have haunted him throughout his life.
Thank you Mr. Davis for writing a book that grabs you from the start, takes you on an emotional journey and wishing the story wouldn't end.  )
